Carter’s recognizes two top brokers
Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced that two of its brokers have been recognized by their client, Carter’s, for bringing the two most profitable locations nationwide based on a sales-to-rent ratio.

Dawn Greiner, senior VP, and Carey Moen, first VP, both in the SRS Dallas/Ft. Worth office, helped Carter’s sign leases at the two locations. Greiner is the master broker for Carter’s and Moen is a part of the team of brokers that represent the retailer nationwide.
Modell’s Sporting Goods celebrates 125 years with new store opening
New York -- Modell’s Sporting Goods will celebrate 125 years in business with the grand opening of its newest location at 1019 Montauk Highway in Shirley, Long Island, bringing the sporting goods chain’s total to 157 storefronts. The 14,000-sq.-ft. Southport Shopping Center location will officially open on Thursday, Oct. 23 with a ribbon cutting by president and CEO Mitchell Modell and area officials.

Target’s holiday plans include free online shipping, new apps and pop-up store

Minneapolis -- Target Corp. on Wednesday fired the first retail salvo of the holiday season, announcing that, for the first time ever, it is offering free shipping on all online purchases—no matter the amount—from Oct. 22 through Dec. 20. The free shipping offer comes early in the holiday shopping timeline, reflecting retailers’ concerns about what is expected to be a highly promotional season.

American Express: Holiday shopping on smartphones and tablets up 53% in two years

New York -- Using smartphones and tablets to shop for the holidays has grown by 53% since 2012, and is expected to play a big role in decision making and actual purchases this year, according to the American Express Spending & Saver Tracker. The report finds the average American consumer is back to holiday spending at 2012 levels, and will plan to shell out $842 this year (vs. $1,260 in 2013 and $848 in 2012). The Finish Line names Sato president

Indianapolis -- Samuel M. Sato, formerly president, Finish Line brand, has been named as president, The Finish Line Inc. The board of directors also elected him to the board, filling the Class II director position previously held by Bill Kirkendall.
Survey: Many consumers will anonymously share data

Austin, Texas -- A majority of Americans would be comfortable divulging information about themselves anonymously to their favorite stores (60%) or a product brand (56%), and close to half would anonymously share personal data to an app (46%). According to a new national survey from Wearables.com and The Center for Generational Kinetics, some consumers will also share personal information in exchange for certain benefits.
Rodney Fitch dies

New York -- Retail design guru Rodney Fitch, 78, died on Oct. 20 at his home in Wiltshire, England, following a battle with cancer. Fitch founded the design firm of the same name in 1972, and was appointed Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1990 for his ‘influence on the British Design Industry’. He left Fitch, which is now owned by WPP, at the end of 2009.
LaGuardia Airport upgrades stores in Terminal B

Triad Retail Media names Berdusco CEO

A decade after founding Triad Retail Media, Greg Murtagh is stepping down as CEO of the digital retail media company to pursue new opportunities.

Stepping up to the CEO role is current president and COO Roger Berdusco who worked closely with Murtagh since the innovative agency was founded in 2004. Murtagh will remain on the company’s board of directors.
