  • OfficeMax to open most locations at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

    OfficeMax has joined the growing list of retailers that plan on opening most of its stores at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving, ahead of Black Friday. The office supplies, technology and business services retailer will entice consumers with doorbuster deals and significant Black Friday savings at OfficeMax.com starting at 12:01 a.m. EST Thanksgiving morning.

    The OfficeMax Black Friday shopping event will run through Saturday, Nov. 30, in stores and online.

  • Gowex launches new ‘social WiFi’ network Dec. 15

    New York – Gowex is launching a new “social WiFi” network called We2 in New York City on Dec. 15. We2 will work by harnessing the global presence of Wi-Fi by turning “private” hotspots, such as those found in shops and restaurants, into public hotspots, which can be accessed for free by users registered on the We2 network.

  • FatWallet.com releases Black Friday Deal Finder

    Beloit, Wis. – FatWallet.com is launching its 2013 annual Black Friday Deal Finder online tool and mobile app. The Deal Finder is already featuring multiple Thanksgiving and Black Friday ads from top stores, including Macy's, Radio Shack, Lowe's and Target.

  • Starbucks Q4 profit up 34%; 1,500 net new stores on tap

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company on Wednesday reported a better-then-expected 34% rise in its fiscal fourth-quarter and raised its quarterly dividend 24%. The company earned $481.1 million, up from $359 million a year ago.

    Total net revenues increased 13% to $3.8 billion, just short of expectations.

    Global same-store sales increased 7%, driven by a 5% increase in traffic. Same-store sales were up 8% in the United States and the Americas and 8% in China/Asia Pacific region.

  • Good customer service equals customer loyalty and glad tidings for retailers

    PriceGrabber, a leading distributed e-commerce platform and shopping site, conducted its Winter Holiday Shopping Survey and found that 69% of consumers plan to shop at the same retailers at which they shopped last year.
