    Minneapolis – Target Corp. reportedly thinks having a range of organic products matters. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Target has selected 31 new brands to participate in the second year of its “Made to Matter” program, which promotes new sustainable, organic and natural goods.

  • NRF: Consumers will save tax refunds

    Washington, D.C. – Retailers looking forward to consumers receiving their tax refund checks this year may be setting themselves up for disappointment. According to a new survey from the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Prosper Insights & Analytics, close to half (47%) of the 66% of Americans expecting a tax refund this year plan to save it.

  • Omnichannel growth in focus at American Apparel

    American Apparel is bolstering its omnichannel effort with two new hires in marketing and digital engagement.

    The company announced two leadership appointments: Thoryn Stephens has been named chief digital officer, a newly created position, and Cynthia Erland has been named SVP of marketing.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts plans 3 franchise stores in Missouri

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with a new franchise group, Donut World, LLC, to develop two Dunkin' Donuts restaurants and one combination restaurant with its sister brand Baskin-Robbins, in Columbia and Jefferson City, Missouri. The group's first restaurant is planned to open in Columbia this summer and the remainder will open in 2017.

  • Running Buddy makes new social friends

    Charleston, S.C. - The Running Buddy, a vertical retailer of specialty lifestyle products, have introduced a Brand Ambassador program. Running Buddy Brand Ambassadors are invited and encouraged to share their thoughts and collaborate with other ambassadors in a variety of ways including: social media outreach and engagement, sharing audio or video clips, outreach to potential Running Buddy retailers, writing informative blog posts or articles, sharing photos from marathons and other activities, and more.

  • American Express launches program to help smaller merchants combat fraud

    New York -- American Express has officially launched its Small Merchant EMV Assistance Program, which was announced last October by President Obama. The nationwide campaign was created to help U.S. small merchants fight fraud through a $10 million reimbursement program designed to accelerate adoption of EMV payment terminals. It will also arm small merchants with knowledge about EMV’s security benefits.

  • Paris inspires Michaels omnichannel contest

    Irving, Texas – Paris has inspired great works of art, film and literature, and now the City of Light is inspiring an omnichannel contest at The Michaels Companies Inc. The specialty arts and crafts retailer is preparing for “Springtime in Paris,” a contest where customers will create Parisian-inspired art, or a floral, baking or paper craft project, take a photo and upload it or share on social media.
