  • Hasbro names VP global publishing

    PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Hasbro announced that it has appointed Margie Chan-Yip to serve as VP global publishing. In her new role, Chan-Yip will be responsible for creating new and innovative ways to bring Hasbro brand stories to consumers worldwide, from traditional print to e-book formats.

  • Sport Clips signs five Philadelphia region leases

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- Fameco Real Estate, L.P., announced that Sports Clips has signed five new leases in the Philadelphia region as part of its store roll-out campaign.

    In December, Sports Clips’ first area store opened at Park East Plaza in Cherry Hill, N.J. It will be followed by store openings at the Nassau Pavilion in Princeton, N.J., The Shoppes at English Village in North Wales, Pa., Providence Town Center in Collegeville, Pa., and at the Marketplace at Neshaminy, in Bensalem, Pa., in 2011. 

  • Extra packaging a waste for grocery manufacturers

    WASHINGTON -- Consumers can expect to find less packaging with their food and beverages in the coming years as manufacturers look to eliminate waste. The Grocery Manufacturers Association found that by 2020 2.5 billion pounds of waste is expected to be avoided by 2020.  This is on top of the 1.5 billion pounds of packaging avoided since 2005.

  • Macy's gets cozy with Martha Stewart for new mattress line

    NEW YORK  -- Macy's announced the launch of "Martha Stewart Collection by Serta," a mattress line available exclusively at Macy's. 

  • Build-A-Bear Workshop to open store in children’s hospital

    St. Louis -- Build-A-Bear Workshop is teaming up with Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX to open a store on March 25. It will be the first Build-A-Bear Workshop store located inside a hospital.

  • Woman behind Dora licensing named to industry Hall of Fame

    NEW YORK – Leigh Anne Brodsky, president Nickelodeon Consumer Products has been selected for induction into the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) Licensing Industry Hall of Fame. Brodsky joins a select list of only 36 inductees—including Charles Schulz and Jim Davis, both of whom she worked with earlier in her career—since LIMA began recognizing these giants in 1985. 

  • Timberland opens eco-friendly store in Boston

    Stratham, N.H. -- The Timberland Co. has opened its new Boston retail location, at 201 Newbury Street. Construction on the store — housed in the old Prince School building — began earlier this year.

  • QVC goes Irish for St. Patty's Day

    WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- St. Patrick's Day is here, and QVC is celebrating with 24 hours of Irish programming that will feature an extensive assortment of authentic Irish goods, many of which were created especially for QVC.

    During the event, which began at 12 a.m. EST March 17, QVC will offer jewelery, fashion, home decor and othe products from Ireland-based brands. The world-renowned singing group Celtic Thunder is also scheduled to perform several times throughout the broadcast, the company reported.
