  • Macy's to launch collection by designer B. Michael

    NEW YORK — Macy's has partnered with fashion designer, B. Michael, for the launch of his new collection, b michael America Red. Set to debut in ten Macy's locations across the country by Aug. 15.

    "I am excited by the opportunity to share my point of view of Advanced American Style with a broader audience. We are especially pleased to have Macy's as the retailer to launch the collection -- the quintessential american department store."

  • Best Buy plans lifestyle center location

    El Paso, Texas -- Best Buy Co. has signed a lease to open a 37,740-sq.-ft. store at The Fountains at Farah, a new power-lifestyle shopping center located in El Paso, Texas.

    The shopping center, a Centergy Retail project, is under construction and planned to open in 600,000 sq. ft. in fall 2013.
     

  • Walmart builds green rep with opening of 100th solar store

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Walmart has unveiled its 100th solar-powered store on College Avenue in San Diego. By working with California-based SolarCity, the company’s focus on solar power has generated more than 3,000 contract construction jobs in California. In turn, SolarCity has hired 1,213 employees since announcing its first Walmart projects in September 2010. The San Mateo, Calif.-based company will install, manage, and maintain 70 of the 100 new solar power systems.

  • Deloitte survey: Back-to-school shoppers ready to spend, driven by mobile

    New York -- A survey released Tuesday by Deloitte found that shoppers are prepped to spend on back-to-school items, and plan to use their mobile phones in the process.

  • Costco stays tuned to PRN channel

    Costco’s enhanced its ability to sell 3D televisions with the renewal and upgrade of a relationship with Premium Retail Networks (PRN).

    Under the new agreement, PRN’s upgraded in-store media HDTV Network will provide Costco warehouses with a dedicated 3D content channel to support Costco’s 3D consumer electronics education initiatives. PRN is further integrating its HDTV Network platform with Costco’s technology infrastructure to support a wider range of media formats.

  • Natural Grocers makes Arizona debut with Flagstaff opening

    Denver -- National Grocers by Vitamin Cottage said Tuesday that its first Arizona store – in Flagstaff – has opened, and will be joined by two additional stores located in Sedona and Prescott.

    The privately owned regional grocery chain, which operates 56 stores in 12 states, incorporated environmentally friendly elements into the Flagstaff store. Energy-efficient features include motion light sensors, 100% post-consumer content tiles, polished concrete flooring and commercial-grade LED lights.  And the chain is 100% shopping bag free.

  • Belk utilizes ChannelAdvisor for e-commerce management

    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Belk has engaged the services of ChannelAdvisor, a global e-commerce platform provider, for comparison shopping strategy and data feed management. Belk is utilizing ChannelAdvisor’s Comparison Shopping and Flex Feed solutions to skillfully create, optimize and distribute Belk’s product data feeds to multiple shopping engines such as Shopzilla, Shopping.com, Nextag and PriceGrabber as well as to a variety of other commerce partners.

  • Integration continues at Toys'R'Us

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us continues on its path to bring its Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores under one roof as part of its integrated store strategy. The company announced that by the end of the year it will have opened eight new stores and transformed 13 existing locations to the side-by-side model in 2012. In adding eight new stores and renovating 13 existing locations, the company will create more than 400 new jobs across the country.
