  • JCP gets a Joe Fresh look

    PLANO, Texas — JCPenney announced that Canada’s Joe Fresh brand will launch in JCPenney stores beginning March 15, with a collection of modern basics for women. The collection will be displayed in 750-sq.-ft. to 2,500-sq.-ft. dedicated shops in nearly 700 JCP stores.

  • Rose Paving Co. to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at SPECS 2013

    Bridgeview, Ill. -- Rose Paving Company is set to support the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through a multi-event fundraising campaign in 2013. Rose Paving will host a fundraising activity at industry trade shows and events across the country, giving registered attendees the opportunity to help support St. Jude’s mission to find cures for children with cancer and other deadly diseases through research and treatment.

  • Toy maker Jakks posts disappointing earnings

    MALIBU, Calif. — Toy maker Jakks Pacific reported that net sales for the fourth quarter of 2012 were $133.5 million, compared with $141.1 million reported in the comparable period in 2011.

    The reported net loss for the fourth quarter was $119.5 million, or $5.45 per diluted share. This compares with a net loss of $20 million, or 77 cents per diluted share.

  • Knoop new CEO at Turtle Wax

    Healy Family Holdings, parent company of the iconic Turtle Wax brand, named Steve Knoop as CEO.

    A statement by Healy Family Holdings indicated that Knoop "will be responsible for emphasizing the family’s leadership position in investments by growing the businesses through innovation and nimble enterprise with solutions that address building shareholder value."

  • CVS/pharmacy revamps private label products

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy is making some changes to its Gold Emblem food product line, including enhanced ingredients and new flavors, the retail pharmacy chain said Thursday.

    The line has been revamped with more options and a new look. Gold Emblem includes more than 250 products, such as nuts, trail mixes, chips, pretzels, dried candies, cookies, spices, juices, condiments, baking products and breakfast bars. CVS introduced it in 1995, making it one of the first private-label food lines created by a major drug store chain.

  • Kashi heats up product line with steamed meals

    Kashi, a natural food and lifestyle company, announced its new Kashi Chicken and Chipotle BBQ Steam Meal and Italian Vegetable Medley Pasta Steam Meal, two additions to Kashi's Steam Meal line. The new entrees provide a meal for two people in each bag.

    Like Kashi's existing single-serve varieties, microwave steam is used to preserve the quality of the ingredients. Each features the Kashi Seven Whole Grain blend and offers 42 g or more of whole grains per serving:

  • Wendy’s embraces more modern look; 200 remodels planned for 2013

    Dublin, Ohio -- Wendy’s is getting a makeover. On Feb. 25, the company will unveil its new, more contemporary-looking logo in advertising, on product packaging, crew uniforms, new restaurant signage, menuboards and digital assets.  

    The updated logo is in sync with the company’s new “Image Activation” restaurant environment, whose bold, sleek, ultra-modern look is designed to enhance the customer experience. Features include lounge seating with fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi and digital menuboards.

  • J.C. Penney sets mid-March launch of Joe Fresh shops
