  • Kimberly-Clark looks ahead following Q4 results

    Following its fourth-quarter results, Kimberly-Clark plans to pursue targeted growth initiatives and support growth opportunities with increased advertising and research spending.

    The company’s net sales of $5.3 billion were even with the year-ago period. Organic sales, which exclude the impact of changes in foreign currency exchange rates and lost sales as a result of European strategic changes and pulp and tissue restructuring actions, rose 5%, including an 11% increase in K-C International.  

  • Covo Trattoria to Hamilton Heights in NYC

    New York — Covo Trattoria has leased restaurant space at 3660 Broadway at the intersection with West 151st Street, a prominent corner in the Hamilton Heights district of Upper Manhattan. The space includes 1,500 sq. ft. on the ground floor and a full basement. Covo Trattoria anticipates opening in the spring.

    The eatery has two existing locations in West Harem. At the Hamilton Heights location, Covo Trattoria will join neighbors The Grange, The Chipped Cup, Harlem Public and The Heights Tavern.

    San Francisco -- Shoppers will continue to be cautious in their spending in 2014, and they expect to make more money, save more money and afford the things they need. According to a forecast from digital coupon and discount site AnyCodes.com, this is because of a combination of three factors: consumer confidence in the future is climbing, they are focused on investing in themselves and paying off debt, and they are much confident about their job prospects.

  • Meijer’s holiday campaign enjoys record-breaking success

    Meijer customers donated more than $510,000 during the company’s holiday Simply Give campaign, helping food pantries throughout the Midwest restock their shelves.

    Combined with a donation from Meijer, the holiday campaign raised more than $1.2 million, making it the most successful campaign since Simply Give began in November 2008.

  • Walmart Foundation awards $321,000 to eight nonprofits

    The Walmart Foundation’s Colorado State Giving Program has awarded $321,000 to eight Colorado nonprofits that are helping to fund local programs to improve education, women’s economic empowerment, healthy eating and fighting hunger.

    The organizations include We Don’t Waste, Lapuente Home, Care and Share, Kids Aid, Project Angel Heart, Women’s Resource Agency, Broadway Assistance Center and Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado.

  • Wayfair taps new executive creative director

    Wayfair, the largest online retailer of home furnishings and décor, has appointed Christiane Lemieux as executive creative director.

    In her new role, Lemieux, previously founder and creative director of DwellStudio, will provide creative vision and counsel across the company’s growing portfolio of home brands, including Wayfair.com, AllModern, Joss & Main and DwellStudio. Lemieux will be responsible for developing new creative initiatives for Wayfair in the coming year.

  • VisibleBrands raises financing, names new CEO

    Kirkland, Wash. – VisibleBrands has raised approximately $2.3 million through a Series B financing to support a regional expansion of its patented in-store digital couponing platform. In preparation for the company’s regional expansion, VisibleBrands promoted Tim Belvin to CEO, succeeding founding CEO Tim Morton.

  • Kroger test-markets fuel points program

    Kroger is test-marketing the giving of 1,000 "fuel points" toward discounted gas for each transferred prescription versus the traditional $25 Kroger gift card, according to a blog published on The Houston Chronicle website Wednesday.
