  • Jewel-Osco event offers a taste of Hispanic heritage

    ITASCA, Ill. — Supervalu's Jewel-Osco chain announced that it will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with its fourth annual VIP reception to honor the culture and significant achievements of the Hispanic community. The signature event, "Sabor de la Herencia Hispana," will be held Sept. 14, at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th Street, Chicago, from 6 to 9 p.m.  

  • Dunkin’ Donuts looks to expand West

    New York City -- Dunkin' Donuts is looking to expand in the western part of the country. The chain said it is actively seeking franchisees for parts of Colorado, Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and New Mexico, regions in which the Dunkin barely has a presence.

    To entice would-be franchisees, the company will offer reduced royalty fees and extra money for local advertising.

  • Stop & Shop, Unilever donate $150K to Feeding America

    QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop has teamed up with Unilever to support hunger relief efforts of Feeding America and its local member food banks.

    The companies said that they are donating $150,000 to the organization, which will provide more than 1 million meals to families in need.

  • Gap Inc. opens first Banana Republic store in Russia

    MOSCOW — Gap Inc. announced that it has opened its first Banana Republic store in Russia through its franchise channel. The company also announced that it will open its first Gap store in Serbia on Friday. This store will represent the company’s 200th franchise store globally.

  • Banana Republic opens first store in Russia

    San Francisco -- Gap has opened its first Banana Republic store in Russia, in Moscow's AfiMall City. In related news, the company will open its first Gap store in Belgrade, Serbia, on Friday.

    “We are very proud to not only be introducing Banana Republic to Russia, but also opening our 200th franchise store,” said Stephen Sunnucks, president, international, Gap. “This is a significant landmark for our goal of growing our franchise store base to 400 by 2014.”

  • McDonald’s Canada investing $1 billion in chain-wide store remodeling

    New York City -- McDonald's Canada is investing approximately $1 billion in an ambitious program to transform the look, feel and function of its more than 1,400 locations across the country. More than half of the stores are expected to be remodeled by yearend, with the rest completed by the end of 2012.
