  • Survey: 57% of app users say they may do holiday shopping on mobile device

    Palo Alto, Calif. -- A survey released Thursday by Apigee found that three out of five – or 57% – of mobile app users would consider purchasing their holiday gifts this year on a mobile device.

    The 2012 Holiday Shopping survey revealed that the top items that would potentially be purchased via mobile are books (32%), electronics (31%), gift cards (27%), DVDs/Blue-ray discs (26%), clothing (24%) and toys (20%).

  • Target reaches $2.5 million donation goal through Facebook app

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. said Thursday it has awarded $2.5 million in Target gift cards to schools across the country, much of it due to a strong Give With Target campaign with a robust Facebook participation.

  • Survey: Consumers think economy is in dire straits; could affect holiday spending

    New York -- Survey results unveiled Thursday by online coupon site RetailMeNot.com and Ipsos Public Affairs found that  an overwhelming number of consumers think the economy is in dire straits. As well, this pessimistic group is shoppers to adjust their holiday consumption behaviors and shop earlier this year.

  • Uniqlo launches Djokovic-inspired tennis line

    NEW YORK — Uniqlo has introduced a new tennis line modeled after the performance apparel worn by top-ranked male professional tennis playe, Novak Djokovic. The line will launch in the United States on Aug. 27 and in other markets around the world at a later date, details of which will be announced in due course.

  • Mattel Apptivity marries old-school toys with new technology

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Mattel's highly-anticipated Apptivity line, which the company introduced at the 2012 Toy Fair in February, is now available for the iPad.

    At the Toy Fair, representatives for Mattel demonstrated how Apptivity allows kids to take a physical toy, such as a Hot Wheels car and play with it on the screen of an iPad. Other brands now available through the Apptivity line include Fisher-Price, Monster High and WWE.

  • Reality star launches line for Chinese Laundry

    LOS ANGELES — Reality TV personality, Kristin Cavallari has partnered with Chinese Laundry for a capsule footwear collection composed of pumps, platforms, booties and flats available at retail this December.

    "My love for shoes is no secret.  To have been able to work with Chinese laundry as a web ambassador and now as a designer has truly been a dream come true," said Cavallari.  "It was important to me to create a collection of shoes that is not only fun and versatile, but also price friendly and comfortable."

  • Jack Link’s gets to meat of the election

    The marketing team at Jack Link’s Beef Jerky has outdone themselves with a clever and lighthearted brand-building effort that plays off the presidential election. The company is asking consumers to vote for their favorite “meathead,” a two-foot-by-three-foot likeness of president Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney made from various types of jerky.
