Amazon scores with seasonal promotions
Limited-time sales events, usually timed to a specific time of year or occasion, are becoming a staple of Amazon’s promotional strategy. The daddy of all e-commerce sales blowouts, Prime Day, has turned into a juggernaut which in July 2024 generated a record-breaking $14.2 billion online, representing 11% growth year-over-year from $12.7 billion, according to Adobe data.

And Amazon recently announced that for the third consecutive year, it is officially kicking off its holiday promotional season with a sales event called Prime Big Deal Days this October.
May 2024 alone saw Amazon host five special sales events, including a weeklong Memorial Day sale, as well as the inaugural Amazon Book Sale. And the Summer Beauty Haul, which ran concurrently with the Amazon Book sale, followed Amazon Gaming Week and Amazon Pet Day.
Those events were also open to all shoppers, as were Amazon’s fall Holiday Beauty Haul and Black Friday – Cyber Monday promotion, although both offered extra perks to Prime members.
In addition, in March 2024 Amazon held its first-ever Big Spring Sale, which was open to all customers and focused on warm-weather and seasonal items such as spring fashion, outdoor furniture, lawn and garden essentials, and cleaning and organizing products., as well as select Amazon products.
