Amazon hosts week-long online gaming promotion
Amazon’s latest online sales extravaganza targets gamers.
Through Sunday, May 5, 2024, the e-tail giant is running Amazon Gaming Week, a week-long sale event with deals and promotions on video games and related products.
"Amazon Gaming Week is filled with deals and promotions for every kind of gamer," an Amazon spokesperson said in an email to Chain Store Age. "Customers can expect to find deals in a wide variety of categories. That’s because Gaming Week isn’t just about games—in addition, there are discounts on other software, PCs, home entertainment, audio, and wireless products."
The dedicated Amazon Gaming Week page on the Amazon e-commerce site features the tag line "Play hard. Game on," and offers gaming essentials and games across platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Amazon. Featured ancillary products include apparel items and furniture.
In addition, the sale features certified products from the Amazon Refurbished storefront for like new used goods.
Amazon expands special sales promotions
Amazon continues to build on its offerings of limited-time discount events, often targeted to a specific customer interest or season. The e-tailer just announced it will host its annual Prime Day extravaganza, which basically kicked off the trend of online sales blockbusters, in July.
Prime Day, along with the Prime Big Deal Days sale which is typically held in October, is restricted to members of its paid Prime membership program (although non-members could qualify with a 30-day free trial). However, Amazon Gaming Week deals are available to all shoppers, as was Amazon’s recent first-ever Big Spring Sale.
The Big Spring Sale focused on warm-weather and seasonal items such as spring fashion, outdoor furniture, lawn and garden essentials, and cleaning and organizing products., as well as select Amazon products.
Amazon’s other two major seasonal sales events, the fall Holiday Beauty Haul and Black Friday – Cyber Monday promotion, which lasted Nov. 17-27, were also open to all customers, with extra perks for Prime members.
And for the third consecutive year, Amazon is celebrating National Pet Month in May with its 48-hour Amazon Pet Day promotional event. Open to all customers, Amazon Pet Day offers saving on items including pet food, toys, apparel, pet care, home products and electronics from May 7-8, with early deals already underway.
