Amazon kicks off Memorial Day sale
Amazon is getting a head start on the unofficial opening weekend of summer.
The e-tail giant is hosting a weeklong Memorial Day sale from Monday, May 20 – Monday, May 27 (the federal Memorial Day holiday), 2024. The event marks the fifth targeted promotional blockbuster occurring this May in what has become a very busy month for Amazon.
The Amazon Memorial Day sale is offering discounts of up to 40% on items including mattresses, electronics, and home and kitchen appliances. Amazon is positioning the promotion as providing deals on “everything you need to get your summer backyard party started” and helping customers “prepare for warmer days, refresh your wardrobe, and upgrade your home.”
The sale is open to all shoppers, and discount items have the same policies for shipping and returns as all other products. See a list of selected discounts here.
Amazon expands special sales promotions
Amazon continues to build on its offerings of limited-time discount events, often targeted to a specific customer interest or season. The inaugural Amazon Book Sale ran Wednesday, May 15 to Monday May 20, with early deals starting Friday, May 10.
And the Summer Beauty Haul, which ran concurrently with the Amazon Book sale May 13-19, followed Amazon Gaming Week which was held April 30 – May 5 and Amazon Pet Day, which ran May 7-8.
Those events were also open to all shoppers, as were Amazon’s fall Holiday Beauty Haul and Black Friday – Cyber Monday promotion, although both offered extra perks to Prime members.
In addition, Amazon held its recent first-ever Big Spring Sale, which was open to all customers and focused on warm-weather and seasonal items such as spring fashion, outdoor furniture, lawn and garden essentials, and cleaning and organizing products., as well as select Amazon products.
The e-tailer also recently announced it will host its annual Prime Day extravaganza, which basically kicked off the trend of online sales blockbusters, in July. Prime Day, along with the Prime Big Deal Days sale which is typically held in October, is restricted to members of its paid Prime membership program (although non-members could qualify with a 30-day free trial).
