  • Patagonia adds Joy to marketing team

    Leading outdoor brand Patagonia named former Nike, Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson marketing executive Joy Howard as its new VP of marketing.

    Howard joined Patagonia’s marketing team effective September 23 and will lead the development and execution of global marketing across all sales channels and communication platforms for Patagonia, as well as for the wider portfolio of Patagonia initiatives in food and media, and new brand extensions.

  • West Elm will spend $35 million on handmade crafts

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Home furnishings retailer West Elm today announced its 2013 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Commitment to Action with a purchasing plan of $35 million in handcrafted products through 2015, a 40% increase in spend during the next two years. West Elm, a member of the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. portfolio of brands, also pledged to make and source these products from businesses adhering to high social responsibility, health and safety standards, meeting local laws, best industry practices and the brand’s vendor code of conduct.

  • NRF creates CMO Council

    Washington, D.C. - The National Retail Federation (NRF) today announced the development of a new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council to serve as an advertising and marketing voice for the retail industry. The organization’s Retail Advertising and Marketing Association (RAMA) will transition into the newly created council.

  • Sherwin-Williams releases Google Glass app

    Cleveland – Sherwin-Williams is releasing a new consumer app for Google Glass, called ColorSnap Glass. Developed for Sherwin-Williams by digital marketing agency Resource, ColorSnapp Glass provides a digital layer of color samples customers can view using the Google Glass device.

    Saks Off 5th has launched its online store, saksoff5th.com. It joins a list of closeout retailers that are getting comfortable in the e-commerce market. The online store will offer up to 55% off merchandise year-round.

    Chicago – Monetate is releasing two new products that will bring its big data marketing acceleration technology to retention and acquisition channels. The addition of Monetate Email and Monetate Display expands the Monetate Acceleration Cloud.

    Following the lead of specialty retailers such as Lululemon and Athletica, Target has unveiled an exclusive collection of fashion-forward lifestyle apparel for men, women and children — C9 by Champion — just in time for the fall and holiday season.

  • Chuck E. Cheese’s and Claire’s sign new leases at Kendall Village Center

    San Jose, Calif. – Chuck E. Cheese’s has signed a long-term lease renewal and expansion of roughly 2,126 sq. ft. for a total of about 16,158 sq. ft. at Kendall Village Center in Kendall, Fla. To accommodate this expansion, Berkowitz Realty Group had to relocate accessory retailer Claire’s within the center.
