  • College kids snack in the afternoon, to replace meals

    Boston – College students most frequently eat snack foods in the afternoon and are frequently replacing meals with snacks. A new study from marketing agency Fluent shows that 75% of college students replace meals with snacks and afternoon snacking is three times more popular than morning or late night snacking.

  • Hershey launching new candy brand in 2014

    Following a successful launch in China earlier this year, Hershey is ready to introduce its first new brand to the U.S. market in three decades.

  • Staples launches new price-match policy

    Framingham, Mass. -- Staples announced a new price match policy that the company said ensures customers pay the lowest price – both in stores and online. Staples said it will price match items sold and shipped by Amazon.com or any retailer who sells products in both retail stores and online under the same brand.

  • Sears to showcase outdoor living line at New York City Wine & Food Festival

    New York -- Sears and its Shop Your Way loyalty program are prepared to make a splash in New York next week by playing a major role in the city’s Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine.

    New York’s premier culinary event will be held Oct. 18 to Oct. 20 and Sears and Shop Your Way are expanding their presence this year and plan to showcase stylish and affordable lines of patio furniture, Kenmore grills and indoor and outdoor entertainment with Sears designer and TV personality Ty Pennington.

  • ICSC poll: Most voters support online sales tax collection

    Washington, D.C. -- Some two-thirds of Americans say they support the Federal e-Fairness legislation calling for collection of online sales tax at the time of purchase.

    A national poll conducted by the International Council of Shopping Centers found that a majority of Americans feel it would be far easier to pay sales or use tax on online purchases at the time-of-purchase. The poll also showed an increase in support among voters for federal legislation that would restore basic free market principles for brick-and-mortar retailers.

  • Silver Jeans to debut ‘Loft’ concept at Glendale Galleria

    Winnipeg, Manitoba -- Canadian denim company Silver Jeans Co. said it will open its "loft" concept store at Glendale Galleria on Nov. 2 in Glendale, Calif.

    "We put a lot of work into making sure the store environment represents our brand," says Michael Silver, CEO, Silver Jeans Co. “We've created an environment that has a comfortable modern feeling but also lets our guests know that we're a historic brand with a rich 92-year history."

  • Bon-Ton Stores enters Utah

    New York -- The Bon-Ton Stores has signed a lease with Rouse Properties for a new Herberger’s store at Cache Valley Mall in Logan, Utah — its first in the state. 

    The company expects to begin remodeling the 62,000-sq.-ft. facility in early spring 2014 and to be completed in the second half of 2014.

  • ChapStick taps Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan as its brand ambassador

    ChapStick has selected Alex Morgan, Olympic gold medalist and member of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, as its latest brand ambassador. Morgan will serve as the first brand spokesperson in more than a decade and will appear in national television and print advertising, set to debut Nov. 4.

    The product focus for the start of Morgan’s two-year partnership is ChapStick Hydration Lock.
