  • Big Lots names Kmart exec as chief customer officer; will expand discounter’s digital presence

    Columbus, Ohio – Big Lots has named Andrew Stein as senior VP, chief customer officer. Prior to Big Lots, Stein was a marketing executive at Kmart, where he served a number of roles leading up to his appointment as chief marketing officer in August 2011. Stein’s appointment is in line with Big Lots’ intent to expand its digital presence.

  • McDonald’s reports Q3 improvements

    Oak Brook, Ill. – McDonald’s Corporation reported positive financial results during the third quarter of fiscal 2013. The retailer’s net income grew 5% from the third quarter of the previous fiscal year, rising to $1.52 billion from $1.45 billion.

  • Saks Fifth Avenue continues enhancing e-commerce site

    Saks Fifth Avenue is leveraging Stylewhile’s iPad App so the retailer can offer online shoppers the opportunity of fitting clothing to their specific body type before making a purchase.
     
    Stylewhile is capable of aggregating product imagery from online stores and fitting them on a model of a number of body types. Users can not only virtually try on clothes, but also use the App to select various items from retailers to create complete ensembles.
     

  • Target bolsters digital initiative ahead of holiday shopping season

    Target is enlisting Jonna Mendez, a former CIA officer, who will serve as a “Kids’ Gift Detective.” Inspired by her years of CIA experience, Mendez will offer online tips and techniques via a video series at ABullseyeView.com where she works with popular mom bloggers.
     
    In addition, Target will offer a dedicated kids’ gifts page on its website and will launch a digital gift catalog in early November.
     

  • Park City Group adds Vons/Pavilions exec to team

    Park City Group, a leading consumer goods supply chain technology provider, has appointed Gary Rocheleau as a senior adviser.  

    Rocheleau, who has more than 40 years of experience, will be responsible for developing business solutions, consulting and expanding efforts in the retail channel.

  • Tiffany’s relaunches e-commerce site

    New York – Tiffany & Co. is relaunching its Tiffany.com e-commerce site. The site includes enhanced zoom capabilities and several expanded sections.

    Blue Book, the company’s collection of couture jewels, is showcased with scenes from the Tiffany Workshop where they are created, as well as an expanded engagement section with a gemologist’s video and review of Tiffany’s quality standards.

    Los Angeles – CharmingCharlie relaunches its e-commerce site today. Enhanced features on Charmingcharlie.com include: a new approach to '”Shop by Color,” product filtering, improved product descriptions and social sharing, among others.
