RetailMeNot secures tech and social media expertise
Gokul Rajaram, head of product engineering at disruptive payments company Square, has joined the board of directors at digital coupon marketplace RetailMeNot.
Rajaram joins RetailMeNot three months after the company complete a public stock offering. He currently serves as product engineering lead at Square, a position that involves developing software for Square Register, a full point-of-sale system for local businesses and other products. Prior to Square, Rajaram was product director of ads at Facebook where he drove the product roadmap and execution of Facebook’s advertising products. Before Facebook, Rajaram was co-founder and CEO of Chai Labs, a semantic technology startup he grew to profitability and a multi-million dollar annual revenue run-rate before it was acquired by Facebook. Earlier in his career, Gokul was product management director for Google AdSense.
"Gokul's guidance as a board member on product development will be invaluable as we improve RetailMeNot's offerings for consumers and retailers alike," said Cotter Cunningham, CEO and founder of RetailMeNot. "Gokul has been on the front lines of some amazing businesses, helping them to communicate their offerings to consumers in compelling ways, and I am excited to work with him as a member of our team."
Rajaram said he was thrilled to join the RetailMeNot board and also said he regularly checks the site for coupons whether shopping online or in stores.
“I look forward to working with the team to help find new ways to save consumers money when they shop,” Rajaram said.
