  • Two new tenants to open at Janss Marketplace

    Thousand Oaks, Calif. -- NewMark Merrill Cos. said that Sweet Tooth Dental Center and Dish Restaurant will open at Janss Marketplace, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., bringing the center to 97% occupancy.

    Dish Restaurant signed a 10-year lease for a 6,548-sq.-ft. space near Aaron Bros. and RadioShack. The new restaurant at Janss Marketplace, which is the second location for Dish, is slated to open in mid-Sept.

    Sweet Tooth Dental Center signed a five-year lease and has opened in a 2,613-sq.-ft. space near Dressbarn and Payless Shoe Source.

  • Quaker Steak & Lube on track to open 11 restaurants in 2012

    Sharon, Pa. -- Casual-dining chain Quaker Steak & Lube said Monday it has opened its 50th restaurant in Lakewood, Ohio, and is on track to open 10 additional restaurants this year. The brand also will be expanding to six new markets with five franchise groups over the next several years.

    "Over the past six months, we signed agreements to develop 11 new restaurants around the country, including three corporate locations in Texas," said John Longstreet, president and CEO.

  • Panera Bread to open at Rangeline Crossing

    Carmel, Ind. -- Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group said that Panera Bread will open a 4,019-sq.-ft. location at Rangeline Crossing, formerly named The Centre, in Carmel, Inc.

    Old National Bank will open a 5,600-sq.-ft. outlotat the 83,533-sq.-ft. center, which is currently undergoing a redevelopment.

    The landlord is KRG Centre.

  • Sam's Club crowns another regional BBQ champ

    ROCKFORD, Ill. — Lucky's Q took home the Midwest regional title in the Sam's Club National BBQ tour.

    Based in Denver, Iowa, Lucky Q's competed with teams from Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota at the Aug. 4 regional event in Rockford, Ill.

  • Starbucks teams with Square to accept mobile payments; invests $25 million in company

    Seattle -- Mobile payments took another step forward with the announcement that Starbucks Coffee Co. has entered into a partnership with Square, a mobile-payment start-up. Starbucks will invest $25 million in Square -- part of the latest round of financing -- and Starbucks chairman, president and CEO Howard Schultz will join Square’s board of directors. Square was founded in 2009 by Jack Dorsey, creator of Twitter.

  • Trader Joe’s among tenants at new development in Virginia

    Charlottesville, Va. -- Columbia, S.C.-based Edens said that Trader Joe’s is among the anchor tenants of its new Shops at Stonefield development, under construction in Charlottesville, Va.

    The Shops at Stonefield will begin opening stores and restaurants in November 2012. Tenants include Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Langford Market and Trader Joe's. Edens said it is also working with local retailer Blue Ridge Mountain Sports on a new flagship store.

  • Two eateries join NewPark Mall

    Newark, Calif. -- NewPark Mall in Newark, Calif., announced the upcoming addition of two new food court eateries: Taqueria La Tita and Crepe Bar are slated to open in August. Taqueria La Tita will open in 613 sq. ft. and La Crepe will measure 666 sq. ft.

    NewPark Mall is anchored by Macy's, Sears, J.C. Penney and Burlington Coat Factory.
     

  • Five Guys opens at Streets of St. Charles

    St. Charles, Mo. -- Peoria, Ill.-based Cullinan Properties said that Five Guys Burgers and Fries has opened has opened at the Streets of St. Charles, located in St. Charles (St. Louis), Mo. – the burger brand’s first in the county.
