Jack in the Box lets customers become ‘CEO’ in Fortnite promotion
Jack in the Box Inc. is teaming up with a popular immersive gaming platform to let customers compete to get promoted to CEO – virtually.
The hamburger chain is launching a new metaverse promotion, "Jack's CEO Minigames," which offers a Jack in the Box-themed virtual world based on classic maps from the Fortnite immersive virtual game.
Up to 12 players can compete simultaneously to navigate the retailer’s "Jack Box" mascot through environments built with its “Munchie Meal” items, such as curly fries and tiny tacos.
Players compete in seven random minigames in a "battle royale" format. After each minigame round, players earn experience points that help them get promoted to the next rank with the ultimate goal of reaching CEO status, rising through the ranks of intern, manager, director, VP, and finally CEO of minigames.
After each minigame, players return to the virtual lobby and chat with the "Jack Box" mascot to vote on the next minigame they want to play and then compete in the minigame that receives the most votes.
To celebrate the launch of its Fortnite promotion, Jack in the Box customers can obtain a secret, exclusive wearable Jack head for their virtual characters by purchasing a Munchie Meal with a Coca-Cola beverage through the retailer’s app.
Jack in the Box is giving one player that wins the CEO title free food for a year. Entry requirements for customers are:
- Achieve the CEO title in the mini games.
- Take a screenshot of your win.
- Share your screenshot on the JITB X (formerly Twitter) account with the hashtag #FreeJack.
- Download the Jack in the Box app and become a "Jack Pack" member.
Once all entry requirements are verified, one winner will be randomly selected on the last day of April. This promotion follows other gaming-themed campaigns Jack in the Box has launched in partnership with marketing agency Zoned, including teaming up with Twitch gaming streamer "Gamer Jack" and offering “Gaming Box” meals specially designed for gamers.
Quick-service restaurants play promotional games
In October 2024, quick-service pizza chain Domino's made its debut in gaming by teaming up with Amazon and Twitch to integrate emergency pizza into their new game created in Fortnite, "The Glitch."
However, one of the strongest quick-service retailer gaming presences belongs to Chipotle Mexican Grill. Chipotle recently brought back its "Burrito Vault" digital game to give away up to 157,500 buy-one-get-one (BOGO) free entree codes.

Chipotle has also collaborated with the popular Roblox gaming platform for promotions such as challenging customers to roll burritos in the metaverse to earn Chipotle’s in-game currency on Roblox; as well as a limited-time virtual storefront and maze Roblox experience for Halloween.
Jack in the Box Inc., founded and headquartered in San Diego, operates and franchises approximately 2,200 Jack in the Box restaurants across 22 states and approximately 600 Del Taco restaurants across 17 states.
