Chipotle brings back digital ‘Burrito Vault’ gamified loyalty promotion

Once again, Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating National Burrito Day with an interactive competition for members of its rewards program.

The fast-casual chain is running “Burrito Vault,” a gamified campaign promoting National Burrito Day (Thursday, April 2), for members of its Chipotle Rewards loyalty program through Wednesday, April 1. This marks the third consecutive year Chipotle has run the Burrito Vault promotion.

This year’s promotion features a new gameplay mode called “Double Protein Power Hour” and more than $2 million in prizes. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET daily through Wednesday, April 1, Rewards members can attempt to guess the exact burrito order combination for a chance to win a prize. 

Players receive four attempts per hour and can win a maximum of one buy one, get one entrée or double protein during the campaign while competing for the grand prize of free burritos for a year that goes to the first winner of each hour. 

The vault code resets every hour, along with a fresh assortment of prizes. New this year, Chipotle will host a "Double Protein Power Hour" randomly for one hour each day where the number of prizes is doubled and all include double protein. To play, customers must log in using the email associated with their Chipotle Rewards account.

In addition, Chipotle will offer a $0 delivery fee on digital orders placed through its app and U.S. and Canadian e-commerce sites on National Burrito Day, Thursday, April 2.

"With more than 3.5 million plays last year, Burrito Vault generated record-breaking engagement with our fans," said Stephanie Perdue, interim chief marketing officer, Chipotle. "Bringing the game back for a third year allows us to build on that momentum while highlighting our clean protein as more consumers prioritize protein-packed meals that don't compromise on quality."

Other gamified rewards programs Chipotle runs for members of its loyalty program include the annual Chipotle IQ trivia game. In summer 2025, the company hosted an augmented reality-based "AvoLotto Sweepstakes" to celebrate National Avocado Day (Thursday, July 31) in partnership with Snapchat and a three-month long burrito promotion called “Summer of Extras.”

Based in Newport Beach, Calif., Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. operates more than 4,000 restaurants as of December 31, 2025, in the U.S., Canada, U.K. France, Germany, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates, and it is the only restaurant company of its size that owns and operates all its restaurants in North America and Europe.
