  • Forestry campaign to take root at Ikea

    Ikea is taking its multi-year partnership with American Forests to a whole new level with the introduction of an educational video for children.

    The Swedish retailer and the forestry group have teamed up to produce a video to be shown in designated kids’ areas at Ikea stores. The video will explain how forests and trees benefit all life on the planet, including wildlife, and how trees help to slow or mediate climate change.

  • Kohl's to offer limited-edition Thakoon line

    Another high-end designer is making a limited edition pit stop at a mass market retailer. This time it's Kohl's, which plans to offer a line from Thakoon Panichgul this fall.

    The designer will work on the seventh installment of the retailer’s DesigNation limited-edition collection. Thakoon is a fashion industry favorite and he visited London to inspire the capsule of misses apparel that will be available exclusively at Kohl’s and Kohls.com beginning fall 2015.

  • New Balance Experience Store opens in Philadelphia

    Center City, Pa. -- X Team International, an international alliance of retail real estate advisors, announced that partner MSC Retail has completed a lease transaction with New Balance Experience Store at 1615 Walnut Street in Center City.

    The new 2,200-sq.-ft. ground-floor retail space is located on Philadelphia’s leading high street, and will sit alongside The Apple Store, Urban Outfitters and Free People. It opened on April 1.

  • AT&T, Boston

    AT&T has opened one of its largest stores yet, a 9,000-sq. ft. location on Boylston Street in Boston.

    The store, which is just a few steps away from the finish line of the Boston Marathon, sets itself apart with an all-glass front and space that spans two floors. A Boston flavor is prevalent throughout the space, starting with an oversized Boston Marathon-themed mural.

  • Staples gets in to the 'Shark Tank' for small business

    Staples is getting into the “Shark Tank” to attract more small business owners to its stores by teaming up with ABC’s popular TV show.

    The retailer will sponsor debut products from inventors on ABC’s “Shark Tank” television show and on Staples.com and in select Staples stores. The successful entrepreneurs behind the products will be featured during three episodes of ABC’s “Shark Tank” starting April 10.

  • Walmart launches anti-hunger campaign

    Walmart is looking to increase its support of community food programs with a new "Fight Hunger. Spark Change." campaign this spring.

    The national initiative will invite the public to take action in the fight against hunger. Working with some of the nation’s leading food companies –- Campbell’s, ConAgra Foods, General Mills, Kellogg Company, Kraft, and Unilever–- Walmart is offering the 140 million customers that shop at its stores each week three easy ways to help families in need in their local communities.
