Report: EBay to run ads in mobile app

9/12/2014

San Francisco – EBay Inc. reportedly plans to begin running advertisements within its mobile app during fourth quarter 2014. According to Reuters, the Geico insurance company will be one of the first advertisers.

EBay offers advertisers advantages such as the fact its users have a single, universal log-in across all devices, enabling a high degree of individual targeting. And the average eBay app user spends 150 minutes per month on the app, three times any longer than the average use time of any other app. An EBay executive is quoted as saying the company is not worried advertising will drive its app users away.

EBay is working with Triad Retail Media to place the mobile ads, in a revenue-sharing arrangement in which EBay will receive a larger portion of the revenues.
