    NEW YORK — NYSW Beverage Brands has named Amir J. Daibes, P.E., the new president and part owner of the company. Daibes joined the New York-based bottled water company after more than 30 years in the engineering, manufacturing and construction industry.

    “This is an exciting, young company positioned for growth with great products and tremendous potential in the marketplace,” Daibes said.  “I am honored to be part of the team, and look forward to building its brands and footprint.

  • PacSun loss widens in Q3 loss; to close up to 200 stores

    Anaheim, Calif. -- Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. reported Wednesday that losses widened in the third quarter to $17.6 million, from $7.1 million a year earlier. The decline was due in large part to charges associated with store closures.

  • Saks redesigns SaksPOV website

    New York City -- Saks Fifth Avenue announced Thursday a redesign of the SaksPOV website.

    SaksPOV presents a point of view from Fifth Avenue on fashion, culture and art, and the site features robust multimedia content, designer features, Saks brand coverage and lifestyle pieces. SaksPOV launched initially in December 2010.

    “We will use SaksPOV as an outlet to engage with our customers and as a portal for our fashion lifestyle content,” said Denise Incandela, CMO and president of Saks Direct.

    PARIS — Gap Inc. announced the opening of its first Banana Republic store on Avenue des Champs Élysées in Pais, France. According to the company, the 15,952-sq.-ft. space will house the brand’s women’s and men’s collections and represents the most contemporary expression of the brand globally.

  • ShopperTrak: Retail sales flat first week of December

    Chicago -- A report release Wednesday by ShopperTrak said that sales increased just 0.2% year-over-year for the week ending in Dec. 3, representing a 22.5% decline from the prior week, which held the largest Black Friday in history — both in terms of sales and traffic. 

    According to ShopperTrak, this sharp decline in retail sales is typical of the week following Thanksgiving. Although shoppers have an initial burst of activity spurred on by Black Friday sales promotions, they often stay home during the following week.
