  • Office Depot taps former Sears exec as CIO of international

    Keith Sherwell, who served as CIO of Sears Holding Corp from March 2010 to June 2013, has been named CIO of the Office Depot international division, effective Sept. 15. Sherwell advised the board of OfficeMax during merger negotiations with Office Depot, and has served as a technology integration consultant to Office Depot since the completion of the merger in November 2013.

  • Talbots selects Mi9 merchandising solutions

    Hingham, Mass. - Talbots has selected Mi9 BI, Mi9 Merchant, and Sales Audit solutions with loss prevention software products to replace its existing core merchandising and inventory management systems. Talbots needed technology to help streamline the merchandising process, including the re-classifying of product hierarchy and centrally managing inventory across all channels.

  • Golden Chick increases drive-thru traffic, sales with new NCR technology

    Duluth, Ga. -- NCR Corp. announced that Golden Chick, a Texas-based quick-service restaurant, has successfully piloted the NCR Drive-Thru Timer to help improve the customer experience and efficiency of its business.

  • BitPay becomes Demandware partner

    Atlanta – Bitcoin digital currency platform provider BitPay has become a Demandware Link Technology Partner. Demandware’s clients will now be able to easily add bitcoin as a form of payment due to BitPay’s development of a pre-built integration between its payment processing services and the Demandware Commerce platform.  

  • Genesco has ‘disappointing’ second quarter

    Solid comparable sales gains and a strong topline performance in Genesco’s direct businesses were not enough to offset a sales and gross margin shortfall versus plan at the company’s Lids Sports Group, prompting the company to lower its guidance for the full fiscal year.

    The company reported earnings from continuing operations for the second quarter ended Aug. 2 of $4.8 million, or $0.20 per diluted share, compared to earnings from continuing operations of $8.5 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, for the second quarter ended August 3, 2013.

  • BitPay becomes Demandware LINK tech partner

    BitPay, a payment service provider (PSP) specializing in e-commerce, B2B and enterprise solutions for the bitcoin digital currency, has become a Demandware LINK Technology Partner.

    BitPay will be joining a community committed to accelerating the adoption of innovative commerce technologies that are complementary to the Demandware Commerce platform. Demandware’s clients will now be able to easily add bitcoin as a form of payment via BitPay’s development of a pre-built integration between its payment processing services and the Demandware Commerce platform.

  • PCI Council urges retailers to protect against malware

    Wakefield, Mass. – In light of the recent announcement of the “Backoff” malware threatening the POS security of retailers, the PCI Council strongly encourages companies as a matter of urgency to consider the following recommendations:

    1. Contact your provider of antivirus solutions and ensure you have the most recent and up to date version of antivirus software that will detect “Backoff” and other similar malware.

    New York -- AccuStore, a leading provider of site intelligence for retailers and multi-site operators, has added Jan Davis, president and CEO of ShopperTrak, to the board of AccuStore’s parent company, GSP.
