  • Mall of San Juan opens in Puerto Rico

    The mall is certainly not dead in Puerto Rico, where Taubman Centers Inc. held the grand opening for the Mall of San Juan on Thursday.

    The island's first upscale shopping center features a singular collection of retailers, more than 60% of which are unique-to-market and the Caribbean's only Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. The 650,000-square-foot shopping center was developed through a partnership between Taubman and New Century Development, Inc.

  • P&G campaign focuses on Latina shoppers

    Proctor & Gamble is trying to increase Latina interest in its products with a new “Living Fabulosa” (living fabulously) initiative.

    It is part pf the company’s Orgullosa campaign, which highlights the unique and complex experience of the modern, bicultural Latina -- the Nueva Latina.

  • Barnes & Noble tells a social media tale

    Barnes & Noble is launching a Twitter giveaway to promote its famous in-store Storytimes.

    The bookseller announced that its April lineup of free Storytime events includes a Picture Book of the Month selection, as well as a Twitter giveaway to encourage parents and children to attend.

  • AAFES engages with suppliers in new initiative

    The Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) recently conducted a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to simplify the process of selling to the major retailer.

    Working with the American Logistics Association, AAFES participated in the trade group’s 2015 Exchange Impact Workshop in Dallas. Led by AAFES Chief Merchandising Officer Ana Middleton, she and more than 50 AAFES representatives detailed the Exchanges’ go to market strategy to an audience comprised of manufacturers, brokers, distributors, and service providers.

  • Sportsman's Warehouse celebrates the ladies

    Sportsman's Warehouse is trying to increase its appeal among women with a promotion aimed at outdoorsy ladies.

    The retailer plans to host its 5th annual Ladies' Night on March 26. The company says the event will celebrate the growing number of women who regularly participate, or are just becoming involved in, outdoor sports such as hunting, fishing, camping and shooting.

  • Sears, Craftsman tool up for 2015 giveaway

    Sears and Craftsman have kicked off their second annual “MAKEcation” promotion with a sweepstakes that sends the winner to an event this fall in Brooklyn.

    The Path to Purchase Institute this week bestowed Effie awards to top retailers and brand for their marketing effectiveness.

    Winners of the 5th annual Shopper Marketing Effie Awards were celebrated at the Path to Purchase Institute’s 2015 Shopper Marketing Summit. The awards honor work that showcases the best utilization of shopper insights that lead to effective engagements and activations with shoppers along their path to purchase.
