  • Report: Online retailer’s sample sale gets ‘social’

    Specialty retailer Bow & Drape is putting a new spin on how it sells its cheeky merchandise.   The brand, which lets shoppers customize pun-inspired apparel, is rolling out sample sales on Instagram, Glossy said.   
  • Final call for Shoptalk’s new ‘Hosted Retailers & Brands’ program

    Shoptalk, the “nextgen commerce event,” is still accepting applications for a new initiative that connects retailers and brands with technology companies — and provides complimentary tickets and travel reimbursement to the event.    Shoptalk will accept applications for its new “Hosted Retailers & Brands Program” until midnight on Friday, Feb. 17. More than 100 retailers and brands have already been accepted into the program. (Shoptalk will be held March 19-22, 2017, at the Aria in Las Vegas.)
  • Target to help health-related start-ups ‘takeoff’

    Target is prepping for another program aimed at start-ups, specifically those focused on health and wellness.   The new program, called “Target Takeoff,” supports health- and wellness-related start-ups through a “mini-accelerator” effort that will help young companies develop and connect with the major retailers in town.  
  • Fast-food brand launches online wedding registry for pizza-loving couples

    The wedding industry’s newest gift registry is being launched by an unlikely company — Domino’s Pizza.   The service, which is called the first registry “for couples that prefer delicious melty cheese to crystal gravy boats,” according to Domino’s website, targets couples unsure about what to serve at pre-, during or post-wedding festivities.  
  • Check out Barneys’ new window displays

    Just days after it named its first-ever female CEO, Barneys is devoting the window displays at its uptown and downtown Manhattan flagships to an initiative celebrating women’s empowerment.   The windows are part of a new campaign launched by the Barneys New York Foundation, the charitable arm of the luxury specialty retailer. Entitled “We Will Be,” the initiative will run through the end of February to coincide with New York Fashion Week.   
  • PizzaRev expansion continues in Tennessee

    PizzaRev, a build-your-own fast-casual pizza concept, began its expansion into Tennessee this week with the opening of a Memphis location. The grand opening at 6450 Poplar Avenue was celebrated with an all-day fundraiser for Le Bonheur Children’s Research Hospital.   Two additional locations are under construction in Memphis, and another is underway in Nashville. PizzaRev currently franchises and operates 47 stores and has more than 200 others under development in 17 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico.  
  • Tractor Supply Company hits store milestone

    Tractor Supply Company is celebrating the opening of its 1,600th store, which opened in Brentwood, Calif.   The new store will hold its grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 4th.  
  • H&M to debut shoppable runway show at Paris Fashion Week

    For the first time, H&M shoppers will be able to purchase merchandise straight on the runway.   On March 2, H&M is launching its ‘See Now, Buy Now’ show, which enables customers to log onto its site and purchase items from its H&M Studio collection immediately following its presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Merchandise will also be available in select H&M stores.
