It will be all about Black Wednesday at RadioShack

11/17/2015

RadioShack is moving Black Friday all the way over to Wednesday in the hopes of ramping up shopper excitement for the holiday.

The company issued a call to customers Tuesday saying that as a "thank you to our loyal customers (particularly those who don't like to get trampled at big box stores on Black Friday), RadioShack's Black Friday Sale will begin early on Wednesday, Nov. 25." RadioShack says stores will stay open an extra hour on Wednesday, will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day and feature extended hours the rest of the weekend.

"Our store associates, managers and corporate team have been working hard to welcome you back to the new and improved RadioShack," shared Ron Garriques, CEO. "We know the past year has been difficult on the RadioShack community, with our shelves recently missing that one-off electronics component, cable or connector you needed or that mini-drone you were searching for. But now we are stronger than ever and fully restocked with over 20 million new units and proud to return to our roots as the neighborhood source for affordable and cutting edge electronics."

The complete list of products and the sale prices on individual items and bundles included in this year's Black Friday sale will be available on Nov. 19 at radioshack.com.

"RadioShack is committed to serving our customers and communities – the makers, the DIY enthusiasts, and those seeking high quality and superior value electronics products in a community atmosphere," said Garriques. "We are very excited to offer an extended Black Friday Sale to provide our customers with more time to save on more of our unique offerings in store and online. Our holiday schedule is designed to accommodate those who want to beat the crowds by getting in and out quickly as well as those who enjoy the hustle and bustle of the traditional Black Friday rush. On behalf of our 8,000 team members, welcome back to RadioShack."

The retailer, which filed for bankruptcy in February and closed more than half of its stores this year, is now owned by General Wireless, an affiliate of hedge fund Standard General. Recently stores have been updated with new decor, merchandise has been restocked and the retailer has launched new initiatives to entice shoppers.
