  • Survey: 68% of consumers will do most or all of holiday shopping online

    Redwood City, Calif. – About seven in 10 (68%) of consumers plan on doing most or all of their holiday shopping online. According to a new survey of nearly 1,000 consumers from from digital video advertising provider YuMe Inc., 77% are likely to buy some type of wearable technology.   Other key findings include:  
  • In store leaders becoming online laggards

    The online grocery channel, while a minor part of FMCG/CPG sales in the U.S. currently, is widely anticipated to be a primary driver of growth for the category in the coming years. And the emergence of this channel can’t happen too soon - total dollar sales for FMCG/CPG products increased just 1.5% last year according to IRI. But change is coming.

  • Office Depot, OfficeMax expand Thanksgiving hours

    Boca Raton, Fla. -- Office Depot and OfficeMax retail stores will be open from 6-9 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, and will re-open on Black Friday, Nov. 28, at 8 a.m. with doorbuster deals. Office Depot and OfficeMax will offer special deals both in stores and online, with all online Black Friday deals starting at 12:01 a.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 27.  
  • Sears encouraging customers to shop its way

    Sears is offering early access to Black Friday deals as a means to entice customers to join its free Shop Your Way membership-based loyalty program.

    The retailer said its Shop Your Way members can begin Black Friday a week early at Sears.com when exclusive pricing on key items becomes available at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20. Then on Thanksgiving Day, Sears stores will open at 6 p.m. with more than 1,000 doorbuster deals continuing through 1 p.m. on Black Friday.

  • Nielsen survey: More than half of shoppers plan to participate in Cyber Monday

    New York -- According to Nielsen’s 2014 Holiday Retail Sales Forecast, nearly 25% of consumers polled had already started their holiday shopping in September. However, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are still relevant, as 52% of respondents in a just released Black Friday/Cyber Monday survey stated that they plan to venture into stores on Black Friday and 55% of respondents stated that they plan to fire up their computers for Cyber Monday. 
  • Online retailers miss sales with irrelevant items

    London, U.K. -- Nearly three-quarters of online retailers (74%) miss out on sales by promoting irrelevant items to online shoppers. According to new research from OrderDynamics, as retailers prepare for the crucial holiday shopping season, many could be driving customers away by promoting irrelevant products, failing to build customer relationships through intelligent follow-up, and ignoring consumer preferences on end-to-end order tracking.
