  • Report: H-E-B plans two-story food shop

    H-E-B is planning to build a two-story grocery store in Bellaire, Texas, featuring the latest in food market retailing to open in the fall of 2017, Fox 7 reported Wednesday.

    "We have enjoyed our Bellaire neighbors for the past 22 years and look forward to bringing them a store tailored to their needs filled with stellar features and products that will enhance their shopping experience for years to come," Scott McClelland, H-E-B Houston president, told Fox 7.

  • Home furnishings retailer heading West

    Crate and Barrel is going to try its luck in Nevada.

    The home furnishings retailer has signed a lease to open a store at Downtown Summerlin, Summerlin, Nevada, a Howard Hughes Corp. development. The 106-acre retail and entertainment center is located in the Summerlin master planned community.

  • Hy-Vee helps fight cancer, childhood obesity with kids' triathlons

    Hy-Vee has partnered with the Pinky Swear Foundation to sponsor several Hy-Vee Pinky Swear Kids Triathlons in cities across the Midwest. The partnership will help with the foundation’s efforts to raise funds and awareness for the families of children who are suffering from cancer.

    Hy-Vee is collaborating with the foundation to bring youth triathlons to several of the communities it serves. In summer 2016, races will be held in Des Moines, Minneapolis, Chanhassen, Omaha, the Quad Cities and Kansas City.

  • Hot brand opening pop-ups in hotels

    One of the most buzzed-about retail brands is setting up shop — temporarily — in some hip hotels.

    Canadian apparel retailer Kit and Ace is opening a a series of pop-ups in collaboration with luxury hotels in major cities across the globe. The pop-up, called “The Carry-on,” will make its debut in April, at the Hotel Zetta in San Francisco (for full listing, see end of article). It will offer a selection of easy-pack, carry-on essentials from Kit and Ace.

  • Walgreens issues corporate 'Red Nose' challenge as exclusive retail partner of 2nd Red Nose Day

    Walgreens on Monday announced its returns as the exclusive retail partner of the second annual Red Nose Day, helping raise funds to fight kids' poverty. The campaign's iconic Red Noses - which people wear in support of the official Red Nose Day on Thursday, May 26 - returned to store shelves at Walgreens and Duane Reade locations nationwide this morning, officially kick starting the nine-week charitable campaign.

  • Conn's extends and expands literacy program

    Furniture and specialty home goods retailer Conn’s is extending its Conn’s Cares philanthropic program for a second year.

    The company is partnering with First Book and Little Free Library — organizations that have been recognized by the Library of Congress for their excellence in the advancement of literacy — to expand the literacy focus of Conn’s Cares.

    Nike’s newest factory store, in Lubbock, Texas, draws inspiration from the area’s local sport culture, with special emphasis on its deep roots in football.

    The local imagery in the store includes a declaration to be “Texas Tested,” which responds to the famous suggestion that if you can pass the Texas test, you can pass any test.
