Saks satisfies foot fetish in Connecticut

7/31/2015

Saks Fifth Avenue is putting its best foot forward in a hot category.

The retailer plans to open its first-ever stand-alone 10022-SHOE store in Greenwich, Conn. Expected to open in fall 2016, the new 14,000 square-foot location at 20 East Elm Street will be dedicated to women’s footwear and will be just a short distance from the existing Saks Fifth Avenue location in downtown Greenwich.

“Opening a dedicated 10022-SHOE store (named after the department store's shoe department) will allow us to offer an unparalleled assortment of women’s footwear,” commented Marc Metrick, president of Saks Fifth Avenue. “Women’s footwear is one of our marquee businesses and I’m very excited to dedicate more space to this key category in one of our most important markets.”

This move will also allow Saks Fifth Avenue to expand the space dedicated to its highly productive women’s designer ready-to-wear, leather goods and fine jewelry assortment in the existing store. The upper level will be enhanced with new designer apparel shops and a private fine jewelry viewing room.

“This is a tremendously exciting time for Saks Fifth Avenue. It is a wonderful opportunity to better serve our Greenwich customers, reaffirm our commitment to this important category and further strengthen Saks Fifth Avenue’s position in the marketplace,” added Metrick. “The new 10022-SHOE store will be a remarkable, luxurious destination for women’s footwear and will be complemented by a more robust assortment in our existing store.”
