    The emphasis is on fresh foods and convenience at bfresh, a new, urban-scale supermarket concept from Ahold’s Fresh Formats division.

    Designed by Scandinavian design agency Blink, bfresh is part neighborhood grocery store, part food hall and part restaurant. The stores, which average about 9,000 sq. ft., have a modern look and a streamlined, simple layout. Digital price tags enhance the contemporary feel.

  • First Look: Warby Parker, Nashville

    Hip eyewear retailer Warby Parker continues to put down roots in Nashville.

    Last year, the company opened a local corporate office in the city (its first outside of its New York City home base) and, more recently, opened a store at Nashville’s Edgehille Village. The storefront is open and provides full visibility into the interior. It is designed as an inviting outdoor space with native plants and landscaping.

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- PREIT will begin construction next summer on LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia at Plymouth Meeting Mall in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. The 33,000 sq. ft. attraction, is a unique indoor attractions based on the popular LEGO brick, designed for families with children aged 3-10.

  • Soft Surroundings, Scottsdale, Arizona

    Women’s lifestyle retailer Soft Surroundings brings its brand to life at Kierland Commons, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

    Designed by JGA, Southland, Michigan, the 4,000-sq.-ft. store has a relaxed, inviting feel. Merchandise is featured in lifestyle displays reminiscent of a home environment. Custom decorated fitting rooms are highlighted with crafted chandeliers, oversized mirrors and unique seating.

  • First Look: Target Wonderland

    Target merges physical and digital retailing in its holiday pop-up, Target Wonderland, located in Manhattan. The 16,000-sq.-ft. space has ten larger-than-life displays, including a jumbo Etch-a-Sketch, a Christmas tree made from green-foam Hulk Hands and the "S.S. Free Shipping” LEGO pirate ship which is part of Target’s holiday advertising campaign.

  • Muji, New York City

    The minimalist Japanese lifestyle brand Muji has opened its largest U.S. location yet, a two-level, 12,000-sq.-ft. flagship on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. It’s the company’s fifth location in the Big Apple.

    The store, designated as Muji’s U.S. flagship, includes such extras as an embroidering station where customers can have their items customized, choosing from more than 100 designs, and an Aroma Lab, where shoppers can create custom scents choosing from some 48 essential oils.

  • Target, nationwide

    Target Corp. is giving the bargain-priced, impulse section located in the front of its stores a makeover.

    The retailer is transforming the popular department into “Bullseye’s Playground,” and the chain’s iconic mascot, Bullseye, will be located on the top of each display.
