Newegg, The RealReal team with Google for conversational AI shopping
Newegg and The RealReal are both partnering with Google to make it easier for customers to find and buy the products they want.
Online technology product retailer Newegg Commerce Inc. and omnichannel luxury consignment retailer The RealReal are integrating their digital shopping experiences with agentic AI capabilities provided by Google in an effort to streamline product discovery and purchase.
Details of each collaboration follow:
Newegg
Newegg has integrated Universal Commerce Protocol-supported checkout on Google (Universal Commerce Protocol is an open standard for agentic commerce supported by Google). Shoppers in the U.S. can now buy eligible Newegg products directly inside AI Mode in Google Search and Gemini AI model, without leaving the conversation. Newegg is the merchant of record for every order.
Using in-depth discussions of features such as product specs and use cases, shoppers can learn and make decisions about products and then check out on the spot through Google Pay without ever having to leave the conversation.
The purchase happens in Google's experience, and Newegg fulfills and supports the order. Newegg, which was also among the first retailers to enable in-conversation checkout on the Perplexity AI platform, is building on a ChatGPT app-based shopping experience it launched in June that featuring the same live pricing, inventory and deals from its catalog.
However, in that shopping experience the cart opens on the Newegg site pre-loaded with the final secure payment step happening there. Newegg has been leveraging ChatGPT functionality in its shopping experience since 2023, when the retailer started using the agentic AI model for its PC Builder shopping tool and to optimize text content throughout its website, as well as to transform customer service chat, customer email subject lines, and search engine optimization.

Newegg also offers its proprietary Celeste AI shopping assistant on Newegg.com, where shoppers can describe what they need, compare options, and check out in one conversation.
"AI is changing how the world buys technology, and Newegg intends to be at the forefront of that change,” said Montaque Hou, CIO at Newegg. “We moved early to make our catalog shoppable inside AI experiences, and integrating Universal Commerce Protocol powered checkout across Google brings that vision to life in one of the most widely used platforms in the world. Wherever someone asks an AI what to buy, we want Newegg ready to answer."
The RealReal
The RealReal is expanding Ask TRR, an AI shopping agent the retailer built with Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise agentic AI model. Officially launching to all 45 million members after a successful pilot, Ask TRR lets shoppers ask questions such as, "What luxury bag should I buy?" and receive tailored product recommendations designed around their intent and preferences.
The company also plans to develop the experience with AI-driven recommendations on product description pages in an effort to give shoppers more contextual guidance as they consider a purchase.
"The RealReal has changed the way people shop for luxury, and a new generation is embracing resale as a primary way to discover and express their personal style," said Rati Sahi Levesque, president & CEO, The RealReal. "Fifteen years of proprietary data and luxury expertise give us a unique understanding of our customer. Ask TRR builds on that advantage, enabling precision and specificity whether you start with a designer name, an occasion, or simply an idea. Working with Google, we're meeting customers where they are, making it easier for them to find the one-of-a-kind pieces that are perfect for them."
