Newegg is now accepting eligible memory trade-in.

Newegg Commerce Inc. is giving desktop computer owner more opportunity to exchange used components for credit.

The online technology product retailer is now including eligible desktop memory in its trade in program. Originally launched in 2024, the program enables customers to trade in unwanted PC hardware and also offers refurbished tech and PC products for sale.

Following a previous expansion that saw Newegg accept central processing units (CPUs) in exchange for credit toward an entirely new CPU, the retailer is allowing customers to trade in qualifying DDR4 and DDR5 desktop memory kits and receive credit toward the purchase of new memory on its site.

According to Newegg, the program is designed to provide a convenient alternative to selling used hardware through secondary marketplaces. Customers can receive an upfront trade-in offer while purchasing their new hardware, then ship their existing component afterward to ensure they are never without a working system during the upgrade process.

How the memory trade-in program works

  • Customers visit an eligible memory product page on Newegg.com and complete the trade-in submission form, confirming their desktop memory model and condition.
  • Shoppers will see the eligible trade-in value when they add the new memory to their cart. This value will be credited after the trade-in is received and accepted.
  • A prepaid UPS shipping label will be sent to the customer’s email to ship their trade-in to Newegg.
  • Once Newegg receives, reviews and accept an item, the trade-in value will be credited to their order. Trade-ins must pass inspection and diagnostic testing. Trade-ins that do not pass will be returned to the customer and no trade-in credit will be issued.

"At Newegg, we’re always looking for ways to make upgrading PC hardware easier and more accessible," said Andrew Choi, head of growth programs at Newegg. “This is especially important in a challenging macro environment where hardware costs have increased. By leveraging our broad catalog of memory products, we’re giving customers a practical way to reduce upgrade costs while still achieving the performance they expect from their systems.”
