  • Pizza giant links deliveries to customers’ smart technology

    Domino’s Pizza now lets customers sync their smart home devices with the ETA of their pizza deliveries.   The pizza giant is partnering with If This, Then That (IFTTT), a free platform that allows users to create connections — or applets — between digital devices and services. By integrating its digital Domino's Tracker, which enables customers to monitor orders from preparation to delivery, into the platform, the company has created Domino’s-branded applets.  
  • Macy’s selling Chicago flagship — but not all of it

    Macy’s has put part of its iconic State Street store in Chicago’s Loop district on the selling block.   The top half of the building, floors eight through 14, is on the market, the Chicago Tribune reported. Altogether, the space for sale takes in some 650,000 sq. ft., the report said Macy's plans to continue owning the lower floors, which include retail space.  
  • Online made-to-measure menswear brand focusing on brick-and-mortar expansion

    Indochino is growing its fledgling store footprint and has the U.S. market in its sights.   The Vancouver, Canada-based online retailer has opened its 13th store, at Metropolis in Metrotown in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver. The approximate 2,000-sq.-ft. store follows the recent openings of additional locations at West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton, and Chinook Centre, Calgary.   
  • Target ramping up presence, and testing new service, in Manhattan

    Target Corp. is beefing up its presence in the Big Apple — and also testing a service to give city dwellers a break from lugging their purchases home.      The discounter announced plans to a smaller-format store on the city’s Lower East Side in March 2018. The 22,500-sq.-ft. store — one-fifth the size of a regular Target — will be on the second level of the Essex Crossing development, with more than 500 rental units above it. The mixed-use building will also include a Trader Joe’s.  
  • Mobile wallet, services extends to four new countries

    Samsung Pay is expanding its breadth.   Besides launching in Sweden and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the digital wallet also kicked off an early access program in Hong Kong and Switzerland. The launches in UAE and Sweden are Samsung Pay’s first introduction in the Middle East and the Nordics respectively, Samsung said.   Samsung Pay users in Sweden and the UAE can also integrate loyalty and membership cards within their mobile wallets.  
  • Longtime Nordstrom exec joins DSW in big role

    A veteran Nordstrom executive has been named COO of DSW.    The footwear retailer appointed Michele Love as executive VP and COO, effective May 1, 2017. With responsibility for marketing and digital, she will oversee all aspects of customer engagement, driving messaging across all touchpoints.

  • Iconic footwear brand in deal to expand worldwide

    Authentic Brands Group has taken a 51% stake in Frye, one of the nation’s oldest footwear brands, with an eye to expanding its footprint.   ABG will co-own the brand in partnership with Global Brands Group Holding Limited, from whom it acquired the stake. This is the first time ABG and Global Brands, who have had a long history of collaboration, co-own a brand.
