  • Kohl’s is tops for shopping for clothes in Piper Jaffray survey

    Boston – Kohl’s will be pleased to hear that women love shopping for clothes there. According to a new survey from Piper Jaffray, a leading 12% of female consumers selected Kohl’s as their preferred clothing brand/store/website for spring 2015. Macy’s took second place with 9%, followed by J.C. Penney and Wal-Mart (7%) and Amazon (5%).

    Kohl’s has taken the top spot in Piper Jaffray’s biannual survey since fall 2013.

  • Staples launches omnichannel service aimed at small business

    Staples is expanding its omnichannel capabilities with a new service that hopes to take advantage of small business growth in 2015.

    According to a new Staples survey conducted by Research Now, the majority of small business leaders (87%) are optimistic about the year ahead. To help small business customers drive growth in 2015, Staples has launched Print-to-Store.

    Camp Hill, Pa. — For the first time in five years, Rite Aid on Tuesday celebrated a grand opening of a store built from the ground-up.
     

  • Nordstrom to debut second full-line store in Connecticut

    Seattle -- Nordstrom will open a full-line store in the new regional shopping center being developed by General Growth Properties in Norwalk, Connecticut.  

    The three-level, 150,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2018 and will be the company's second full-line store in the state. The company opened its first Nordstrom in Connecticut in 1997 near Hartford at Westfarms Mall in Farmington.

  • Loblaw to open 50 stores, renovate 100 units

    Brampton, Canada -- Loblaw Companies Ltd., Canada’s largest supermarket chain, will open 50 new stores and renovate 100 existing stores in 2015 as part of a $1.2 billion investment in its business.  

    The investment also  e-commerce expansion, and supply chain and IT infrastructure.

  • Apple Watch release date is April 24; priced from $349 to $10,000 plus

    San Francisco -- Apple on Monday announced that the Apple Watch will be available starting April 24, to customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Japan. For shoppers who can’t wait that long, the device will be available for preview, try-on and preorder starting April 10.

  • Barnes & Noble invests in Flashnotes.com

    Before Barnes & Noble Inc. spins off its Education division later this year, it is expanding the business by investing in a website where students buy and sell their notes from class. (Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that Barnes & Noble was buying Flashnotes.com.)

    Barnes & Noble and Flashnotes.com will also enter into a strategic alliance agreement that will enable Barnes & Noble Colege to promote Flashnotes at partner schools and on digital platforms.
