  • Groupe Yellow deploys Epicor Retail SaaS solution

    Montreal -- Canadian footwear retailer Groupe Yellow has selected the Epicor Retail Software as a Service (SaaS) solution to support the organization’s retail operations. Yellow has also signed on as the first SaaS customer to deploy Epicor Retail Sourcing and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) as a hosted solution.

  • Walgreens October sales rise 6.1%

    Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreens had October sales of $6.37 billion, an increase of 6.1% from $6 billion for the same month in fiscal 2013. Same-store sales improved 5.8%.

    Calendar day shifts negatively impacted total comparable sales by 0.3%age point, while generic drug introductions in the last 12 months negatively impacted total comparable sales by 0.7%age point. Walgreens opened 14 stores during October, including four relocations, and closed two.

  • Vitamin Shoppe reports flat Q3 net income; 60 stores on tap for 2014

    North Bergen, N.J. – Vitamin Shoppe reported net income of $16.3 million during the third quarter of fiscal 2013, flat with the same quarter in the prior year. The retailer also reported a 14% increase in total net sales, to $272.5 million from $239 million, as well as a 2.6% jump in same-store sales.

  • Denny’s selects Wireless Ronin’s digital menu systems

    Minneapolis -- Wireless Ronin Technologies has established a relationship with Denny’s Corp., and received an initial order from AAFES to install its RoninCast digital menu system at the Denny’s Fresh Express concept at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.

    The  Ronin’s solution will feature digital menu and promotional screens that display a streamlined menu for both Denny’s Fresh Express and Denny’s AllNighter concepts.

  • Animated mannequins steal show at Gaultier exhibit in New York

    New York -- Talking mannequins almost steal the show at the exhibition, “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk,” which opened recently at The Brooklyn Museum in New York City.  

  • ARCP acquires Cole for $11.2B

    New York -- American Realty Capital Properties has acquired Cole Real Estate Investments for $11.2 billion, creating the world’s largest net lease real estate investment trust, with an enterprise value of $21.5 billion.

    ARCP has secured $2.75 billion in fully committed financing from Barclays. The loan is expected to close in the first half of next year.

    Updated ARCP pro forma 2014 guidance indicates that adjusted funds from operations will move from $1.13 to $1.19 per share, compared with 2013 guidance of $0.91 to $0.95 per share.

    Hointer Inc., a Seattle-based denimwear retailer, may be new (the first store opened in April 2012) and small (two branded stores in Seattle plus a pop-up inside a Levi’s store in New York City), but its goal is impressively large.
