New York -- Amazon.com is going big in Texas with the announcement that it will open its fourth fulfillment center in the state.
The new 500,000-sq.-ft., which is currently under construction, will be located at the northeast corner of Interstate 45 and Interstate 20 in Dallas and will bring about 500 new jobs to the area when the facility opens early in 2016. It will process smaller items, such as books, electronics and consumer goods.
"We are proud to continue creating hundreds of new full-time jobs in Texas that offer wages 30% than traditional retail stores and include comprehensive benefits on day one, bonuses and stock awards," said Mike Roth, Amazon's VP of North America operations. "Our growth in Texas has been a team effort between the amazing workforce in the state and the incredible support we have received from local communities."
Amazon has created 3,500 jobs since coming to Texas and have invested more than $400 million in the state. It already have locations in Coppell, Haslet, and Schertz.
