    Specifically, as the announcement explains, mobile and e-commerce data from Slice Intelligence will be included in NPD’s existing checkout tracking service.

According to a new survey of CEOs from PwC, 74% of retail CEOs are nervous about shifting consumer spending patterns, and 59% are nervous about the disruptive potential of new distribution channels. Nearly half (47%) are nervous about the pace at which technology is evolving.

  • HSN beats Street with Q4 results; digital, mobile sales soar

    St. Petersburg, Fla. – HSN Inc. had a successful fourth quarter of fiscal 2014, beating Wall Street estimates for both net income and sales. Net income rose 11% to $68.3 million from $61.6 million, while net sales grew 10% to $1.12 billion from $1.1 billion.

    Digital grew 12%, reaching a milestone of representing more than half HSN’s business. Mobile remains the company’s fastest-growing platform with growth of 40% in the quarter.

Since 2007, the retailer has used GT Nexus for procurement and settlement processes, and now will leverage that same data and connectivity to extend supply chain visibility, support international growth and reduce costs.

  • Tractor Supply Company ups domestic store target to 2,500 units

    Brentwood, Tenn. - Tractor Supply Company has increased its domestic store growth target to 2,500 stores from 2,100 stores and its long-term operating margin target to 11.5% from 10.5%. The company is basing this enhanced guidance on the positive effects of key sales and gross margin initiatives, along with ongoing system enhancements such as demand planning, inventory allocation, and price optimization

    Tokyo - Shiseido Co. Ltd., a global cosmetics manufacturer, will empower its nearly 10,000 beauty consultants in Japan with IBM mobile apps designed to provide new customer services, customer-centric product improvements and social innovations.

  • Brixmor Property Group upgrades 39 centers with energy-efficient lighting

    New York -- Brixmor Property Group announced that in 2014, it completed lighting upgrade projects at 39 shopping centers, for an estimated combined energy reduction of 68%, or 6,100,000 kilowatt hours annually. That is equivalent to the annual carbon emissions from electricity used in 585 homes or the greenhouse gas emissions from more than 10 million passenger vehicle miles.

  • Survey: Almost all retailers vulnerable to insider data threats

    San Jose, Calif. – Almost all retail IT decision-makers feel vulnerable to insider data security threats. According to the 2015 Insider Threat Report from enterprise data security provider Vormetric, 93% of U.S. retail respondents reported they were "somewhat" or more vulnerable to insider threats.

  • IBM releases new set of hybrid cloud solutions, services

    Armonk, N.Y. - IBM is betting big on the cloud. The enterprise technology giant is releasing new hybrid cloud technology and services designed to extend clients' control, visibility, security and governance in a hybrid cloud environment similar to what they have in their private cloud and traditional IT systems.

    In doing so, IBM aims to increase data portability across environments and make it easier for developers to work across cloud and non-cloud environments.
