  • Survey: Online shoppers don’t feel safe

    San Francisco - Most consumers do not feel safe when shopping online and many are shying away from their favorite retailers as a result. According to the ‘Trust in the Internet’ survey of 10,000 U.S. and U.K. consumers from NCC Group and IDG, nearly eight out of 10 people (77%) do not feel very safe when shopping online and, with the holidays just a few weeks away, nearly a quarter reveal they are doing less online due to security concerns (23%).

    In an effort to bolster its online presence, Loehmann’s has appointed a digital retail expert to join its advisory board. Tony D'Annibale, president of Jessica's Brands, will work with the board and the management team during the Loehmann’s re-launch as an online retailer.

    Irvine, CA – Food producer Systopia International has recently upgraded its payment technology within the dining area of its new Green Bay, Wis. facility. Working closely with in-house caterer Aramark, Systopia designed a cashless payment solution based upon using staff security RFID badges as the cashless credentials.

  • Mobile shopping rules Thanksgiving and BF

    Online and mobile shopping on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday reached record levels according to a real time analysis conducted by IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark.

    Thanksgiving online sales increased 14.3 percent and mobile sales increased 25.4 percent. Black Friday online sales increased 9.5 percent while mobile sales increased 28.2 percent, according to IBM.
     

  • Study: Discounts are poor initial purchase incentive

    Cambridge, Mass. — New customers whose first transaction involves a discount or special offer are 50% less likely to return to make a second purchase. According to a new study from loyalty technology provider Coherent Path Inc., customers who visit an e-commerce site for the first time and make a purchase at full-price are more than twice as likely to make a second visit.   
  • J. Crew tops in online customer service

    New York — J. Crew provided the best overall online customer service in October, marking the retailer’s third time topping the Stella Benchmarks rankings from StellaService in 2014. The retailer ranked 4th in phone, second in email, eighth in shipping and 17th in returns.
      Stella Benchmarks includes 138 companies evaluated on a daily basis by StellaService. Customer care channels, phone, email and chat, are measured daily, while fulfillment metrics are measured across multiple orders each month.
