  • Alibaba names new CEO

    New York -- Alibaba Group Holding Limited on Thursday announced that its CEO, Jonathan Lu, will step down and will be replaced by COO Daniel Zhang, effective May 10. Lu will remain on the company's board as vice chairman.

    New York -- Global Brands Group has named former Ann Taylor and May Company executive Adrienne Lazarus as CEO of The Frye Company, one of the holding company’s premier brands.

    The company said the appointment of a veteran retailer such as Lazarus reflects a strategic focus on the 150 year old brand.

  • Zulily names CFO

    Seattle -- Online retailer Zulily announced today that Brian Swartz has been appointed senior VP and CFO, effective June 1, 2015.

    Swartz brings more than 20 years of operational and financial experience to Zulily. For the last six years, he served as senior VP and CFO of Apollo Education Group, Inc., a private-sector education company. Swartz joined Apollo from EaglePicher Incorporated, a technology and industrial products and services company, where he served as VP and corporate controller.

  • CVS Health to rebuild its two burnt-out Baltimore stores

    Baltimore -- CVS Health officially announced it will rebuild its CVS/pharmacy Baltimore stores that sustained heavy fire damage during protests last week. The stores that will be rebuilt are located at 2509 Pennsylvania Avenue and 2560 West Franklin Street.
     

  • Office Depot, Sears and Groupon sign on with Boomerang Commerce

    Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Boomerang Commerce, a provider of omnichannel pricing technology, announced that Office Depot, Sears, and Groupon have deployed Boomerang’s Price Perception Index and rapid pricing testing platform.

    Boomerang enables revenue growth and protects margins by rapidly analyzing, testing and deploying smart pricing, inventory and assortment strategies.

    In addition, Boomerang unveiled two executive hires to help scale the team and the company’s global sales and marketing efforts.

  • Sam’s Club invests in future customers

    Sam’s Club is celebrating National Small Business Week in a very big way.

    The retailer is launching the Small Business Economic Mobility initiative (SBEM), a five-year investment in small business growth through increased access to capital and borrower education, with grants totaling $13.6 million to eight national nonprofits.
