    Garden Ridge, Texas -- Décor superstore retailer At Home said that Former PetSmart CEO and chairman Phil Francis has been selected as an independent member of the board of directors of décor superstore retailer At Home. The retailer has been acquiring senior leadership talent with public company experience which has some industry experts suggesting a stock offering could be in the company’s future.

    Chicago -- True Value Company, one of the world’s largest hardware cooperatives, announced that Deborah O’Connor will join the company as senior VP and CFO, succeeding current CFO David Shadduck who left True Value effective April 30.

  • Visa expands technology research; names research labs VP

    San Francisco - Visa Inc. is expanding its technology research capabilities globally and appointing Min Wang to senior VP of Visa Research Labs. Wang joins Visa from Google Research, where she was a senior staff research scientist focused on data mining.

    She also held senior staff research roles at HP Labs China and at the Unified Data Analytics Department at the IBM Watson Research Center.

  • Fresh Market expands board

    Greenboro, N.C. – The Fresh Market Inc. has elected Michael D. Casey, CEO and a director of Carter’s Inc., and Robert K. Shearer, formerly CFO of V.F. Corp, and currently a director of Church & Dwight Co. Inc., as independent directors. With these additions, The Fresh Market’s board has nine directors, eight of whom are independent directors.

  • Sales and earnings on the rise at Publix

    Publix continues to demonstrate that its customers indeed find that shopping there is a pleasure, judging by the grocery chain's first quarter results.

    Publix’s sales for the first quarter of 2015 were $8.3 billion, a 6.8% increase from last year’s $7.8 billion. Same store sales increased 5.3%. Net earnings for the first quarter of 2015 were $548.9 million, compared to $493.7 million in 2014, an increase of 11.2%. Earnings per share for the first quarter increased to $0.71 for 2015, up from $0.63 per share in 2014. T

  • Tuesday Morning sales up, store count down

    Tuesday Morning Corp. completed its turnaround initiative in the third quarter, closing 21 stores and narrowing its loss to $2.8 million.

    The company also said that Melissa Phillips has been promoted to president and chief operating officer from executive vice president and general merchandise manager.
