Jack in the Box promotes app usage with gamified Halloween promotion
Jack in the Box Inc. is getting customers in the Halloween spirit with a new mobile game that rewards spending time on its app.
The fast-food hamburger chain is offering “DealQuest: Revenge of the Munchies,” a choose-your-own-adventure game available in the Jack in the Box app through Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31.
Players enter the virtual game environment in the Jack in the Box app and meet the “Jack Box” mascot character in a spooky restaurant. In an apocalyptic twist, users soon find themselves teaming up with Jack Box to fight off a legion of evil “AI Munchie Meals.”
Every typed action, question, and decision shapes a one-of-a-kind storyline, making the game re-playable with multiple plays allowed.
As players progress, they will encounter real Jack in the Box menu items and unlock codes for seasonal “Monster Munchie Meals” special offers as well as regular menu items. Those codes can be redeemed instantly for deals that load straight into their offer bank in the app.
The deeper app users go, the better the offers become. And once a player redeems an offer in the app, they are automatically entered for a chance to win prizes like a custom Jack in the Box gaming PC, new gaming consoles, or codes for the popular “Resident Evil” video game.
Deals include special discounts such as select free menu items with a purchase of $5 or more, buy-one-get-one offers, and targeted discounts on specific items. Offers are valid for seven days after issuance with one offer per transaction.
Jack in the Box has experience in offering virtual gaming promotions. In April 2025, the retailer launched a new metaverse promotion, "Jack's CEO Minigames," featuirng a Jack in the Box-themed virtual world based on classic maps from the Fortnite immersive virtual game.

"The future of fast food isn’t just about what you order, it’s about how you experience it," said Ryan Ostrom, Jack in the Box executive VP, chief customer & digital officer. "With DealQuest, we’re pushing the boundaries of what a fast food in-app experience should look like by fusing AI, gaming, and storytelling to make the Jack app more immersive, personalized, and fun. It’s a taste of where we’re headed: a digital ecosystem where great food, craveable deals, and unforgettable experiences come together, and the deeper you go, the more you unlock."
