For 2026, eBay is partnering with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to present a shopping event on its eBay Live livestream shopping platform, “Endless Runway: The Archive.” The immersive, storytelling-based exhibition will feature more than 150 rare and archival pieces by American designers, sourced from eBay, alongside pieces contributed by American designers and fashion houses.
The eBay Live auction, hosted by designer Jenna Lyons, will be streamed live from the exhibition Wed. Sept. 9, 2026, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. the auction will feature designs contributed directly from the archives of designers including Calvin Klein Collection, DVF, Michael Kors Collection, Proenza Schouler, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang and Willy Chavarria. Customers will hear from industry experts on the cultural significance behind each piece as they are auctioned.
In addition to special contributions from designers, all pieces featured in the exhibition were sourced from eBay and styled by eBay's resident stylist Brie Welch, with proceeds from the eBay Live auction benefiting the CFDA.
eBay focuses on fashion
eBay has been increasing its presence in the fashion resale space in the past 12 months. In October 2025, the retailer entered a multi-year partnership with Condé Nast that will see it serve as the “official pre-loved partner” of the magazine publisher. The companies say they are planning future initiatives which will broaden the partnership beyond fashion and luxury.
This year, eBay is also its Circular Fashion Fund in 2026, opening applications to businesses and startups across the E.U., Switzerland, and Canada for the first time. The annual program, first launched in 2022, supports entrepreneurs addressing the fashion and textile industry’s environmental footprint from production to end-of-life.
Other initiatives include acquiring Depop, a U.K.-based fashion resale marketplace popular with younger consumers around the globe, for approximately $1.2 billion in cash from Etsy; as well as launching "The NYC Edit," a digital publication focused on what used fashion products leading New York style influencers are buying and selling on eBay, and hosting a limited-time NYC Edit pop-up in New York.
Founded in 1995 in San Jose, Calif., eBay operates in more than 190 markets around the world. In 2025, eBay enabled nearly $80 billion of gross merchandise volume.
Editor’s note: In May, GameStop submitted an unsolicited, non-binding proposal to acquire 100% of eBay at $125 per share in 50% cash and 50% stock in a deal valued at $56 billion. The offer was rejected by eBay. Since its offer was rejected, GameStop has raised its stake in eBay to 9.8% (as of Aug. 1). It is the company’s second largest shareholder.
