DoorDash unveils AI suite for restaurants & food service retailers

DoorDash self-serve onboarding
DoorDash is offering AI-based self-serve onboarding.

DoorDash is providing restaurants and food service retailers that use its online delivery platform with several new artificial intelligence tools.

The on-demand delivery provider is launching a set of AI-enabled restaurant/food service partner software that includes the following solutions:

Self-serve onboarding

According to DoorDash, its new AI-based self-serve onboarding tool can help restaurants launch on its platform more than 35% faster. Using AI, DoorDash can pull information directly from a restaurant's existing online presence, such as its website, to automatically surface details such as photos, store hours, and menu items. Retailers can then review and make edits, helping reduce setup time.

Video library

The new Video library offers eligible users a centralized hub within the merchant portal to upload, organize and manage their video content. Featured across the DoorDash app, these videos are designed to help customers decide what to order and allow food service retailers to tag specific menu items in videos so customers can order directly from what they see, continuously refresh their store page with content, and track video performance metrics such as views, video-driven sales, and new customer acquisition.

Unified photo editing

In 2025, DoorDash introduced an AI-equipped photo enhancement tool for food service retailers. Now, a new unified photo editing experience across web, Android, and iOS, enables professional-grade photo enhancement directly in the merchant portal with three AI-based modes:

  • AI Retouch replaces cluttered or inconsistent backgrounds with a clean, neutral surface, sharpening image quality and optimizing lighting while preserving food exactly as it appears.
  • AI Replate transforms food photos into professional-level images by matching dishes with appropriate dinnerware, enhancing lighting and color, and creating a clean, polished presentation, without changing the food item, quantity, or portion.
  • Match the style of another item lets retailers use another image as a visual reference to apply a desired style, such as lighting, color grading, camera angle, or background aesthetic, while keeping the original dish unchanged. ]

With each of these tools, merchants can download their edited images across other channels they use.

“At DoorDash, we’re constantly building tools to help merchants succeed, from their very first day on the platform, to every order after,” said Brian Tolkin, head of merchant product at DoorDash. “These new tools reflect our belief that the right technology should remove friction, not add it, so merchants can focus on what they do best: making great food and delivering incredible customer experiences.”
