DoorDash brings Wing drone delivery to new market

DoorDash is offering delivery via Wing drone in metro Atlanta.

DoorDash is expanding its use of Wing delivery drones to a major U.S. metro area.

The on-demand delivery platform is introducing drone delivery to metro Atlanta. Eligible DoorDash customers near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove can order from a selection of local and national restaurants and choose to have their items delivered by drone in as little as 20 minutes.

The initial drone delivery lineup includes Molinos Mexican Grill, Koji Japanese Steakhouse, and Sabrosos Mexican Restaurant locations. This builds on a growing partnership between DoorDash and Wing, the on-demand drone delivery provider supported by Google parent company Alphabet.

DoorDash initially launched drone delivery with Wing in Australia in 2022. In March 2024, DoorDash began allowing select local consumers in Christianburg, Va. to order eligible menu items from Wendy’s and have them delivered via drones from Wing.

DoorDash followed this in December 2024 with a partnership to provide delivery of purchases from Brookfield Properties’ Stonebriar Centre in Frisco and Hulen Mall in Fort Worth using Wing drones.

In May 2025, DoorDash began providing delivery via Wing drone from a selection of local and national restaurants at The Arboretum Shopping Center in Charlotte, N.C. to eligible customers.

“Autonomous delivery is an important part of how we’re making local commerce faster, more delightful, and more sustainable,” said Harrison Shih, head of the DoorDash drone program. “We’re excited to introduce drone delivery to metro Atlanta with Wing as we continue to expand our autonomous capabilities and bring new delivery options to DoorDash consumers.”

Eligible consumers in the Atlanta area will see a drone icon in the DoorDash app, where they can browse participating restaurants. If items meet size and weight requirements, consumers with an address in the eligible delivery zone can select drone delivery at checkout and track their order in real time as it arrives.

Consumers in metro Atlanta can check their address for eligibility on the Wing website and those outside the initial service area can join the waitlist to be notified when drone delivery expands to their neighborhood. To celebrate the launch, eligible metro Atlanta residents can get $5 off and a $0 delivery fee on their first drone order of $10 or more.

"Metro Atlanta residents deserve an easy, ultra-fast way to enjoy their favorite meals at peak freshness," said Heather Rivera, chief business officer at Wing. "Wing completes thousands of drone deliveries daily across major U.S. metros, and growing our DoorDash partnership helps us deliver that speed to even more local doorsteps."

This collaboration was developed in DoorDash Labs, DoorDash’s robotics and automation arm which focuses on exploring and scaling technologies that can enhance delivery operations.
