  • Former Best Buy CMO joins Lowe’s

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s Companies announced that that Marise Kumar has joined the company as senior VP strategy and modeling. She joins Lowe’s with more than 25 years of experience in brand management, general management and executive leadership, serving most recently as chief customer experience officer and chief marketing officer for Best Buy.

  • Orchard Supply names Overstock.com exec to marketing post

    San Jose, Calif. -- Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. said Wednesday it has named Samantha Osselaer as VP marketing, effective Nov. 5.

    Osselaer was most recently senior director, creative and branding, for Overstock.com and has also served as a creative VP for both Smith & Hawken and Macy’s.

    As one of her duties, Osselaer will lead the branding and marketing of the chain’s new neighborhood store format that is currently being rolled out.

     

  • Orchard Hardware continues rollout of new neighborhood format

    San Jose, Calif. -- Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. said Friday it will add two California stores to its rollout of a new neighborhood format, with the grand re-openings of a pair of stores in the company’s hometown of San Jose on Oct. 6.

    Both stores have been operational for years, but the company said that the reformatting is so significant that they would be marked by grand re-opening celebrations.

  • Orchard Supply swings to loss in Q2; on track with opening/remodeling program

    San Jose, Calif. -- Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. reported Tuesday a loss of $26.7 million for the quarter ended July 28, compared with net income of $3.9 million in the year-ago period. The results include write-offs and charges related to real estate sale-leaseback transactions.

    Sales dipped to $194.1 million from $196.4 million, and same-store sales edged up 0.9%.

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Lowe’s Companies and the collegiate multimedia, marketing and licensing/brand management firm IMG College announced a national marketing agreement that helps the home improvement retailer reach college sports fans where dialogue is a game changer: official social media platforms.
     

  • Pep Boys creates and fills chief customer role

    PHILADELPHIA — The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack have appointed Thomas Carey to the newly created position of SVP, chief customer officer. In this new position, Carey will be responsible for guiding the company’s customer experience strategies and tactics, as well as leading the development and execution of its marketing strategies. Carey is expected to start with Pep Boys on Aug. 6.

  • Lowe's teams with Microsoft to improve customer service

    Redmond, Wash. -- Microsoft said Wednesday that Lowe's Home Improvement is engaging its services to help improve customer service. The retailer will implement Microsoft Office 365 across more than 1,745 stores, 200,000 employees and its corporate offices in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

    Office 365 will help Lowe’s improve customer service by providing collaboration tools to increase communication among its stores and employees.

  • Lowe’s introduces app for Android

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s Home Improvement said Tuesday that its home improvement app is now available for Android devices.

    The app can be downloaded at Google Play, Google's new online store for digital media. Customers now may shop directly from the free app; access their MyLowe’s account; locate stores and view how-to videos, inspirational galleries and product ratings.
