  • Lowe's Q1 sales fall

    New York -- Cool weather affected sales at Lowe's for the first quarter ended May 3. 

    Lowe’s saw net earnings of $540 million for the quarter, a 2.5% increase over the same period a year ago. Sales for the quarter decreased 0.5% to $13.1 billion from $13.2 billion in the year-ago quarter, while comparable-store sales decreased 0.7%. 

    The world’s second largest home improvement retailer reported its results a day after rival Home Depot announced first-quarter sales of $19.1 billion, up 7.4%.

    ECRM compared retail circular advertising in April 2012 vs. April 2013 and noticed some common overall trends across top retail chains.  While looking at the data, the biggest change from April 2012 to April 2013 came from Lowe’s Home Improvement.

  • Midtown Shopping Center acquires 14.5 acres in Mid-City Los Angeles

    Los Angeles -- Midtown Shopping Center Associates said it has acquired the land under Midtown Shopping Center plus two adjacent properties totaling 14.56 acres for $42.5 million from Catellus Development Corp., based in Denver.  

  • Orchard Supply loss widens in Q4

    San Jose, Calif. -- Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp. reported Monday a loss of $33.6 million for the quarter ended Feb. 2, widened from a loss of $7.3 million in the year-ago period.

    Sales for the quarter rose to $153 million from $141.6 million, and same-store sales edged up 1.6%.

    For the full year,  the company lost $118.4 million, compared with a loss of $14.5 million in the prior year. Sales dipped to $657.3 million, compared to $660.5 million for fiscal 2011.

The program includes a comprehensive lineup of Valspar-branded professional grade products in multiple formulations and finishes that simplifies paint selection while delivering on the durability and performance requirements of professional painters.

  • Divaris names Lowe’s exec as VP in Roanoke office

    Virginia Beach, Va. -- Divaris Real Estate announced that Sam McCoy has been appointed VP of the company’s new regional office in Roanoke, Va.

    McCoy is charged with strategic planning, acquisition, site development, sales and leasing of commercial properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with an emphasis on the southwest Virginia markets.

    Previously, McCoy was director of real estate at Lowe’s Cos., responsible for the development of new Lowe’s Home Improvement store sites in the Mid-Atlantic region.

     

  • Lowe’s Q4 profit tops estimates

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe's Co. reported fourth quarter profits that topped Wall Street estimates, helped rebuilding efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy and general remodeling activity. The retailer also said it authorized a new $5 billion share buyback program that it expects to use in the next two year

  • Lowe's, Rebuilding Together partner to repair Phoenix homes

    Rebuilding Together has teamed up with Lowe's through its Community Partners program to provide free home repairs to four low-income homeowners and to support the Friendly House in the Central City neighborhood of Phoenix on Feb. 20 and 21.

    In its six years of partnering with Rebuilding Together, Lowe's has donated $7 million and completed 958 projects across the country.

    More than 100 Lowe's Heroes employee volunteers from area Lowe's stores will team with Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun.
