  • Boots UK and IBM bring omnichannel functionality into the store

    Boots, the U.K.-based pharmacy and beauty retailer, and IBM announced that Boots has launched Sales Assist, an IBM MobileFirst for iOS app, across its U.K. stores to make it easier for customers to find the products they need.   Sales Assist is one of the 100-plus enterprise-focused apps that IBM has produced in collaboration with Apple for iPhone and iPad, aimed at a range of specific industries and professions.  
  • Apple stores add cool new summer class for kids

    Apple is training the next generation of coders — in its stores.   The company is expanding its Apple Camp workshops to include a course designed to teach children the basics of coding, Techcrunch reported.   The “Coding Games and Programming Robots” course, open to children ages 8 to 12, will also allow kids to program Sphero robots.

  • Apple brings Apple Pay out of the app

    Consumers will have a new, convenient way of making online purchases this fall.   In conjunction with the release of the new iOS10 operating system, Apple late on Monday announced that an online version of its Apple Pay digital payment service will be available to Mac device users in fall 2016. Up until this point, consumers could only complete Internet transactions using Apple Pay through a mobile app.

    One of the most successful formats in the history of retailing is about to get a makeover.        Apple Inc. unveiled its vision for the future of its retail empire, opening a two-level flagship in San Francisco with new design flourishes and service elements that will be rolled out to Apple stores worldwide.     
  • L.A.'s Manhattan Village gets major makeover

    The Manhattan Village Shopping Center in Los Angeles County serves some of the nation’s wealthiest zip codes which explains why JLL is leading a $150 million investment in a redesign and expansion of the mixed use center. The planned multi-phased renovation will bring new life to the 573,000-sq.-ft. shopping and dining destination that occupies 44 acres and serves the South Bay cities and Silicon Beach areas of Los Angeles County, according to JLL.
  • Kohl’s is first retailer to integrate Apple Pay with its reward program

    Kohl’s has been offering the Apple Pay mobile payment app for store purchases since June 2015. But the retailer is now taking it to another level, more tightly integrating its private credit and loyalty programs with the third-party platform.
