Westfield World Trade Center recruits veterans

6/30/2016

A job fair held in New York this week attracted veterans and their family members looking to fill retail positions at the Westfield World Trade Center mall set to open in August. Some 5,000 attended to apply for some 10,000 positions expected to open there and at Fulton Center in the two months.

The mall fills 400,000 sq. ft. in the landmark PATH center designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and described by some as the “Calatrasaurus” for its exposed, spiny structure. Apple will have a store on the mezzanine level and will be joined by as many as 125 tenants including H&M, Michael Kors, Daniel Boulud, Kate Spade, and Victoria’s Secret.

Full- and part-time positions in management, operations, and sales were up for grabs at the job fair. Westfield has an initiative in place to help educate, train, and employ veterans and their families, incubate new business ventures with them, and spread the gospel to other real estate developers.

“In entering the civilian workforce, veterans can leverage their military training to help lead businesses, improve business productivity, and share their deep ethos of service and excellence with us all,” said Westfield World Trade Center senior VP Michael McNaughton.
