Kohl’s is first retailer to integrate Apple Pay with its reward program

5/4/2016

Kohl’s has been offering the Apple Pay mobile payment app for store purchases since June 2015. But the retailer is now taking it to another level, more tightly integrating its private credit and loyalty programs with the third-party platform.

Customers can now use Apple Pay to make purchases with Kohl’s Charge private credit cards. They can also earn points in the Yes2You Rewards loyalty program from any Apple Pay transaction. The service, available with a single tap, is currently available in approximately 250 stores and is expected to be in all locations nationwide by the end of May. This will make Kohl’s the first retailer to deliver a one-tap checkout that integrates both its private credit card as a form of payment and loyalty program with Apple Pay.

Kohl’s has been focusing heavily on providing a top-notch omnichannel customer experience for the past couple of years. The retailer has introduced features such as same-day delivery, in-store pickup of online orders, a personalized mobile app, and seamless shopping carts.

In January 2015, Kohl’s unveiled its “Greatness Agenda,” a broad effort to maximize omnichannel customer engagement that is based on an Oracle Retail platform. The new expanded integration with Apple Pay is the latest step in an ongoing journey toward leadership in digital retailing.

“Kohl’s is blending the physical and digital shopping experiences in more ways than ever before,” said Ratnakar Lavu, Kohl’s CTO. “Offering conveniences to Kohl’s customers that make it easy for them – like a seamless one-tap checkout in Apple Pay that integrates our value-driven Yes2You Rewards loyalty program – is one of the ways that we are leading as an omnichannel retailer. We are continuing to innovate in mobile to provide an easy, seamless shopping experience whether it’s our mobile payment offerings, the features and functionality on Kohl’s mobile app or the Kohls.com experience on smartphones and tablets.”
