  • Acosta names new COO

    Acosta, a leading full-service sales and marketing agency in the consumer packaged goods industry, on Tuesday named Tom Corley COO.

    He will be responsible for overseeing the sales and foodservice divisions and will work to deepen consumer packaged goods clients and customer relationships, identify retail operating strategies and develop a differentiated sales organization.

  • First Look: Bealls’ new store concept, Bunulu

    New York -- Department store retailer Bealls Inc. has taken the wraps off its new specialty concept targeted at millennials.

    Called Bunulu, the new format made its debut at Coconut Point Mall in Estero, Florida. Two additional locations — at St. Johns Town Center, Jacksonville, Florida, and The Garden Mall, Palm Beach, Florida — are set to open by the end of this year.

    New York — Bealls Inc. has taken the wraps off its new store banner targeted at millennials.

    The department store retailer debuted Bunulu at Coconut Point Mall in Estero, Fla. Two additional locations at the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville, Fla. and The Garden Mall in Palm Beach, Fla. are due to open by the end of this year.

  • TPN’s Bentonville office eyes greater growth

    The TPN division of global marketing and corporate communications giant Omnicon has worked with Walmart and its supplier community for more than 10 years and now that it has a physical presence in Northwest Arkansas the retail marketing agency is ready for some serious growth.

    TPN, which stand for The Promotion Network, is part of Omnicon’s Diversified Agency Services division. TPN recently open an office in Bentonville and tapped John Meyer to lead the organization which is part of TPN’s 300 person organization with nine offices nationwide.

  • Study: Consumers spend fuel savings on groceries

    Jacksonville, Fla. – A majority of consumers are spending savings from lower fuel prices to buy groceries. According to the new “Why? Behind the Buy” report from Acosta Sales & Marketing, 72% of shoppers age 18-34 will spend fuel savings on groceries.

    Almost all (95%) U.S. shoppers report buying household groceries at regular supermarkets in the past six months; followed by shopping at mass merchants (79%); warehouse/club stores (42%); dollar and drug stores (39%); convenience stores (25%); natural/organic grocers (21%).

    Washington, D.C. – Mike Duke, former president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, has joined global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group. Mike Duke as an operating executive in the Global Consumer & Retail group. He began his duties in mid-April.

    Former Walmart CEO and current board member Mike Duke is the newest operating executive at the Carlyle Group, which suggests the pace of deal-making activity in the retail and consumer packaged goods world could be about to heat up.

  • Acosta Sales & Marketing adds new director

    Acosta Sales & Marketing has appointed Randall J. Weisenburger to its board of directors.

    Weisenburger is the managing member of Mile 26 Capital LLC. Previously, he served as the EVP and CFO of Omnicom Group Inc. for 16 years. Omnicom is a strategic holding company that manages a global portfolio of leading advertising, marketing, media services, public relations and specialty communications agencies serving over 5,000 clients in more than 100 counties.
